Hi there everyone,
I just wanted to ask if anyone else has been having trouble with BPP Media Learning?
I ordered a study text and passcards for F8 nearly three weeks ago by telephone (as their online ordering system
is being updated) and have still not received the materials even though they have taken the money from my bank.
I've since rung them twice to chase the order up. The first occasion I was told they were having dispatch issues
and they had a back log but the books would be with me by Monday. Monday came and went and I rang up
yesterday.
They told me yesterday they were having problems generating invoices and so I told them I wanted to cancel my
order so I could get the materials elsewhere. They said I could have a refund but could I hold the line.
The guy I was speaking to then comes back and says I can have a refund but if I don't cancel the order I can
have a refund and the books. He promised to e-mail the dispatch department and ring me back later that afternoon
to confirm when I'd be getting my books dispatched and to arrange the refund.
Surprise surprise. No phone call. What is going on????? BPP have always been reliable.
Thanks
Mark

Nobody had any experiences then?
I've just cancelled my books on Thursday and asked for a refund which is going to take 3 weeks to process.
Warning to independent students ordering from BPP Learning Media. DON'T BOTHER!

I purchased an ebook for CIMA E1 not realising they don't work on a kindle. I emailed asking for a refund which to be fair they emailed back quickly saying I could either have a credit with them or email or telephone my card details to get a refund.
I telephoned today, was kept on hold for ages and ages until the guy eventually came back and took my card details. He then told me it would take up to two weeks to get my refund!!
I find it strange how they can debit your account in a matter of hours yet it takes so long to refund the money but hey ho.
At least they are refunding me for a purchase I can't use so I have to give them credit for that, will wait and see how long it takes.
Hope you get better luck with your next order

p.s. Kaplan have been as bad in the past before so I don't think its just the one company.0 -
Really not happy with BPP, although I've had trouble with Kaplan too.
Just wish these companies could have better customer services to deal with issues.
Customer service is lost in the UK.
I don't have a great deal of money and I'm out of pocket with no books.
Sent a letter to complain and if that doesn't work then will ring them back and rant at them lol.

I've never used BPP myself as I've always found the books cheaper on Amazon - and postage is free if you're willing to accept the slower delivery time - I've found it normally takes up to a week, which I think is worth it for free! Only thing to bear in mind is to check the publication dates to make sure you are getting the most recent book, they managed to send me an older version of the book for the project for the degree, even though the picture they used clearly had 2011 on! But for that one I don't think it really matters cos it was still cheaper than direct from BPP, but obviously with tax and stuff you'd have to make sure.
I know this doesn't really help you now, but it's something to consider for the future - hope you get this sorted!0 -
Thanks for that Rozzi.
I've considered using Amazon for ordering my books as I buy loads of other things from Amazon.
The only thing that concerns me is making sure the books are current but after last weeks experience itssomething I'm going to seriously consider.

Ive used Amazon before to buy CIMA books and revision materials. They were fine. I checked the discription to ensure I was getting the right version.
If you have an NUS extra card amazon does 5% discount as well.

I didn't know that, thanks both of you! I don't have an NUS card at the moment as I'm still at college, so have the college's own ID card. But I think the time will come when I go fully self studying so I planned to get the NUS card then (as I think I read somewhere ACCA studiers can get one).
I have just discovered Amazon trade in - they invited me to send back one of the books I'd finished with to get a credit on my account! It's not much compared to the price I paid for it (about a quarter I think) but it all helps and it's gets it out of the corner of my room where all the old books pile up! I think you can also do it with books you've bought elsewhere, so once this first one goes through (only sent it back on Friday, so still waiting for the credit to come through) I might try some more.0 -
Just received my books today from BPP.
I would have been happy except I cancelled the order over a week ago and conformed my cancellation in writing.
I've purchased the same books from Kaplan after cancelling the BPP order and now I'm stuck with two sets of books
and no refund.
To cap it all I have to pay for the return of the books to BPP according to their terms even though I cancelled my
order before dispatch.
I'm livid. :mad2:
