Acca p7

Hope you are all having a nice weekend. My boss has told me that when it comes to the options papers at AcCA I have to sit P4 and P7. I am not too bothered about P4 but I am not happy at doing P7 purely because the pass rate is so low and the examiners reports basically say that everyone struggles with advanced audit.
First does anyone know who the examiner is for P7 and secondly can anyone give me any advice on how to do this paper. Is there any audit articles or additional books I should be thinking about buying as I will also be studying this paper at home.
Thank you in advance.

The examiner is Lisa Weaver. Have you seen these articles on the ACCA website?

Do you work in audit? I remember reading that unless you do, it isn't recommended to sit this paper.0 -
Aww thanks Richard. I don't work in audit but I dont have any choice as my boss pays. I don't know why I had it in my head that Steve Collins was the examiner for that paper and spent the last hour printing his audit articles off as I have seen his name in ACCA magazine.0

I think Steve is an assessor for ACCA.
How did you find F8? I hated it, which is why I chose not to sit P7!0 -
Thanks Richard I've just seen that Steve is the assessor for F8 not the P7 examiner. My brain must be turning to mush!
I too hated F8 but it's one of those that you have to sit it. I'm not looking forward to P7 and will be sitting it in December which is why I am starting to look at it now. The pass rate really frightens me for P7. What papers are you studying!

I'm doing P6 in June - Advanced Tax. I did P5 in December, so if I pass in June I'll be qualified.
The pass rates for all of the options papers are really low for some reason, yet P2 seems to always have a high pass rate and is probably the hardest paper of them all.0 -
Oh how exciting! I bet you will be so pleased to not have to do anymore exams.
I've got P2 in June then I will do P4 and P7 in December then I will be done
Really finding P2 hard and I have bought every book possible to help me: Steve's dummies book , Clare Finch's book, Graham Holt's book and the Wiley IFRS guide! I hope my investment pays off.
Good luck for June x0 -

Thanks, good luck to you too. I'm sure you'll be fine - I think the marking is quite generous.
I was convinced I'd failed it when I sat the paper last year, I wrote loads of waffle for both of the 25 mark questions as I hadn't got a clue what they were asking! I managed to get 57% though.0 -
Well I hope so. Thanks Richard. I had a look at P7 past papers this afternoon and wished I had not done. They're scary!0

I too hated f8 but took p7 and it's much more interesting, less about audit procedures and more about risk. Still hard but slightly easier to study because it's less rote learning. I don't audit either though I work in practice0
