Has anyone sat the ATT law assessment yet, how did they find it. Were the questions on Tolleys a good idea of what you get on the day?
I have mine on 18th April and now begining to get slightly scared as would like lots of practise questions and can not find many

This is proving to be harder than I thought. I have failed the LAW exam twice now. I have used the Tolleys study material, read the LAW manual twice, worked with the BPP 200 question bank CD and now just ordered the BPP pocketnotes. I WILL get this exam and hopefully before im broke!
    3rd time lucky ..............

I feel for you! Law and Ethics is by far the toughest part of obtaining the ATT qualification. Have you done the Ethics yet?

I found law easier than ethics because it's much more "rule" based where ethics is principle based. It's very easy to read something and think "oh yeah that makes sense, that's obvious" - all very easy until asked a specific question to which you then find you can't give the correct answer!

I don't know of your study approach but I would recommend writing things out as you are reading them. Have a much more active approach to this study than you did your pure tax study. Use colour, bold, underlining, ticking, scribbling, sticking, graphs, spiders, acronyms - I mean literally anything other than just pure reading!!

Certainly keep going and best of luck! :)

    Thanks Dean
Actually that is exactly what I have started to do. I am literally writing out the manual on my PC and colour coding it all and if I do not understand it when I do this I am researching it. 2 chapters done, only 23 to go .....
I have not done ethics yet but these are the last 2 and then I am there. I guess I went into the first exam thinking I would get through but I did study hard for 2nd attempt so felt so fed up when I got that piece of paper folded in two given to me. I am interested to know what the reception lady does when you pass, well I am sure I will find out next time, well I hope!

You mention researching; this is invaluable! Use google as your online dictionary!! Law and a dictionary go hand in hand :001_wub:

I have just received my online course material for Ethics and Law and I am feeling overwhelmed already just after reading the topic outlines, I haven't dared to actually open anything yet!

I sat the law/ethics paper in November when it was the last written paper and it was hard!
Apparently so many people were failing that that was one of the reasons they changed it.

I wish you all good luck! You'll get there eventually :)

Arg I am now not inspired to open the study pack.

Maybe I should just book the e-exam and then I will be forced to do some work.

I'm thinking I should do one at a time maybe. Don't know....

Urgh. It's all I've got left, I've passed all the tax papers!!
