This is all I have left.
Do I sit them both at the same time, or do them one at a time?
The facts are these:
£55 per test.
I have to drive a fair way to get to the test centres
I have sod all time for study but will make it happen if I have a deadline (i.e. book the test)
I have zero enthusiasm for either subject
I anticipate finding both difficult
My gut feeling is pick one and do one, then do the next.
If so, which one first?!
ARGH I dislike this last part

Well, I've decided to sit both at the same time because I too have to travel quite far (will you be going to Bristol too?) and I want to get them both out of the way
If you have a look at the past papers you'll probably surprise yourself with how much you already know (and bear in mind the 3 hour written exam has now been condensed to two 1 hour e-assessments).
I think if it were me I would choose which one I felt most confident about after looking at a few past papers and do that one first to give me a boost and some motivation for the second.0 -
I was going to go to Southampton. Depending on where in Bristol they are, that might be closer. I will check it out.
I might have to open the books....0 -
Of the two, law is by far the most 'interesting'. However you'll need to do more work for the Ethics.
If the e-assessments are multiple choice this will make it slightly easier in that you know you have the correct answer on screen and it might trigger your thought process.
Having never done these e-assessments its difficult for me to say "do them one at a time". If you need a kick up the backside to study well, do them both!

Depends on your definition of interesting.
Law bores me witless. Criminal law might be interesting but this law, last time I checked, was so dull I found it so hard to concentrate.
I guess I realy just need to open the books and have a look. I just keep forgetting! Too much on.0 -
I sat the Law & Ethics paper in the last sitting when it was a 3 hour written paper and it was HARD.
A girl from my work has been studing with Tolleys for some of the other ATT papers and they've advised her not to sit the E-Assessments both at once.
Looking at the past papers may give an idea of the types of areas covered however you do also need to remember that this is a competely new format therefore I'd expect the questions to be different as it's multiple choice.
I'd also expect the papers to be slightly more difficult as the Law and Ethics are completely separate whereas when I sat it I was relying on the Ethics questions to push me over the 50% pass rate.
Good luck for the exams though
It must be so exciting knowing that these are your last ones! 0 -
I'm not looking forward to these e-assessments at all either.
Only plus side is I think that in the new syllabus there is less law in the written papers?
And I suppose that being e-assessments it isn't such a big deal if we fail, because of the more than 2 sittings a year.0 -
Tolleys advise you sit one at a time. I a taking the LAW one for the 3rd time this Monday. It is harder than you think it is. I took it at Pitmans Southampton and it was easy to get to and friendly reception lady.
Good luck0 -
Thanks all. I have decided to take Law on its own first, because I think this will be the hardest one for me.
Good luck Noodles!0 -
Passsed the Law exam today, took me several attempts sadly but got there in the end! just the ethics left. So close now to finishing.0

I have booked the law paper for next Tuesday. I was going to do both as my test centre is a long way away but there is so much to remember so I decided to law first. I have studied for 6 weeks but am still struggling.
Any top tips noodles?0 -

My tip would be to double your study time. At this level you want at least 3 months?

I have been studying full time for 6 weeks not working. I have found for the other papers 3 months is about right but remember the law is only 1/2 a paper!0

I'd say it's half the time required in the exam hall but not half a paper :001_tt2:
I'm sure you will be fine. I always think 'dry' papers require "active" learning. Just reading black and white text over and over is boring - write out your notes and get some colour in there!
Best of luck next week.

I would say it is important to read the law book in a lot of detail. It is not just the main areas that come up in the exam, you will be surprised at some of the questions. Understand the meaning behind what is being written about. I read the law book atleast 5 times and searched the web for any areas that I did not totally understand.
You will not find the time in the exam a problem as you can easily answer 60 questions in 60 minutes. The biggest problem is that a lot of the answers appear to be correct and it is not just a case of ABC or D. Many answers are A and B or ABC or all 3 etc. You need to understand the book in details or have a good memory ..........
I bought the BPP CD of questions and they were very helpful but do not waste your money on the pocket notes, they were useless.

Not really sure I would say it is half a paper. I passed the other ATT exams first attempt and also AAT but the law exam took me 5 attempts. Maybe law is not for me but it was not as easy as I thought it was going to be. Two attempts I got 39 so imagine how sick I felt .............. hopefully everyone else passes first time, good luck0 -
Thanks Nicky - good advice. Congratulations on passing it ! Have you done the ethics paper or if not when do you think you will do that?0
-
just started studying for ethics last night but guess i will aim for 6-8 weeks. I wont make same mistake as i did for law, i will only book it when i know it inside out. Have you done ethics?0
-
No I havent but from what Ive read on the forum it seems to be more difficult than law?? Let me know how you get on0
-
Does anyone have any law/ethics materials they are looking to offload? It would need to be for the new computer tests though. If anyone hasany send me a PM with price/details etc.
Thanks and good luck to everyone!0 -
