Sage Payroll

I was thinking of doing a payroll course with premier training on sage payroll.
What are peoples thoughts on this course at £199.

Why not do the IAB course and then you're not tied to sage? The manual payroll course uses HMRC's own calculator from the business link website. It's odd cos it's called manual payroll but you do use a "calculator", the difference is that you still keep manual records. It's a great grounding in payroll and means you can pretty much use any system after that because you know how payroll "works". It's a bit like learning double entry the manual way before using a computer system that does it all for you. The sage one only teaches you how to use sage, what if you're going to an employer that doesn't use sage? Your qualification isn't worth much then whereas a generic payroll qual would be.

Depends whether you want to self study or do a course. The course are about £300-£400 so quite pricey compared to the sage one. I'm sure there's someone on the forum who was self studying IAB but I can't remember who it was, sorry, not much use I know.

I already have work based experience of payroll, admittedly 1987-1992, but i know how payroll works.Did manual payroll for 20 staff and subbies.
Just need a relevant computerised accounts payroll qualification.
