I am having a nightmare with this paper again. I have accidentally entered myself for the Singapore option of F8 instead of the international. The website is so hard to use :(
Does anyone know if I can change this on the website and if they will charge.

Probably best to contact the ACCA ASAP...

Is the deadline date for normal exam entries the 8th October?

New ACCA website isn't the best to navigate.

I think 8th October is the standard deadline and 8th November is the late deadline. I'd try and get entered by 8th October if I were you as I believe you pay at least twice as much to enter between 8th Oct and 8th Nov!

Personally, I would call them up and tell them it was a computer glitch as soon as you can. Mistakes happen to the best of us.

It seems to have been sorted out now thankfully. I just need to try and understand what goes on with this darn paper :( I tried to do an exam question last night and when I compared my answer to the official answer it was nowhere near. It's so frustrating not knowing what the ACCA want from you.
When do the tips for the exams come out? Does anyone know?

Glynis there is a useful PDF to a magazine at the bottom of the page, although you should have had one in the post

and the examiners report although I'm sure you have already read this :001_smile:

Good luck I am starting F4 on Monday night, quite excited to finally get going with ACCA

How is the new job going?

I'm not sure i understand your issue. You can see what the ACCA is expecting of you by reviewing the model answer. I dont think the ACCA can make it anymore clear.

I would suggest you spend a lot of time reviewing past questions and studying how the answers are presented. Your answers should resemble that of the model answers although they wont be quite as polished because of the time constraints.

    Hello Glynis

I really do feel you should get some formal tuition on this paper. It seems to be your nemesis and it would benefit you hugely if you took tuition of some form.

Please do not rely on tips as they're useless and dangerous. You need to cover the whole syllabus as I have previously advised you and you need to read previous examiner reports carefully. The F8 assessor (Steve Collins) has also published articles on sampling and subsequent events which have both appeared in recent exams. In September Student accountant there is also a going concern article by Steve Collins that you must read as it covers areas that are important to the syllabus and frequently tested.

I wish you lots of luck Glynis but take things in a structured way if home studying and please do prepare yourself for December 12 thoroughly as it is going to be here soon! At the very least get yourself on a revision course.

That wasn't my experience, but I found as long as you made a valid point that answered the question you were given credit for it.

However you have made a good point that the model answers are written with no time pressures and are there to aid revision.

Very good point. The model answers cover all the points that the examiner thinks are likely to get mentioned. It does not cover everything and any valid answers will be accepted.

Exam questions do tend to get repeated, albeit with slightly different requirements, so if you can get an idea of how a model answer should look for each generic style of question you can easily apply it to the specific scenario you have been given.
