Hi all,

I've just come away from my personal Tax exam and realised that i have left a figure off the tax return.

It's doing my head in, is this really bad? I know it's a stupid mistake, will it cost me?

I hate the questions and scenarios i put myself through after exams, oh well, i'll feel better tomorrow.

Neil.

    Hi

Dont worry yourself too much about the exam and not putting an answer in just one box. Take a look at the guidance document on the AAT website https://services.aat.org.uk/myaat/guidance_standards/
I have just found this area on the website and think it could be useful to some students. First find the unit you want to find guidance on then look underneath for the guidance notes.

Good Luck with your studies and hope you have passed :001_smile:

    Hello Neil

I was advised when studying PTX that you receive a mark for each figure entered on the return and if all figures are entered correctly a bonus mark. I don't think missing one figure out should be too problematic... fingers crossed! :o

    Hi Jo,

I just feel stupid, the information is there, given to you free of charge, and the boxes are easy to understand yet i messed up. I know this won't be the only mistake i made but it is so obvious i feel silly, i'll feel sillier if it costs me another 53 quid lol.

Thanks for the link WAD, i've read that to death.

    Neil.

I paid 53 to sit the exam with Kaplan at their Manchester exam rooms, and last September if i remember correctly AAT increased the price of the exams, has this happened again?

I'm having a really bad day lol

Is that for distance learning Jo?

Pass... I attended classes so it could be the reason why I only paid ยฃ38.

Why not signup or contact your nearest BPP to enquire how much they charge for distance learning students.

Kaplan charge 38 too but there is a 15 pound admin fee for distance learners for some reason, up until September of last year they didn't charge an admin fee for distance learning. I can't understand how much admin a distance learner would require above a classroom based learner lol.

ยฃ55 was for Kaplan. I paid ยฃ53 for my Financial Performance at the beginning of September, which was paid for in August, but when I booked my personal tax today they gave me a different booking form, and has gone up by ยฃ2.

Neil how can you say tax is boring? :001_tt2:

The other options currently available at level 4 are external auditing and credit management and control. I can't comment on either of these as I took both tax papers and loved them! However I am sure other students can let you know about the other two options. Are you taking both PTX and BTX?

I don't take classes with BPP, just buy the books and book the exams with them and only get charged ยฃ36 (for level3) and I believe it only goes up to ยฃ38 for level four. They are pretty good in that respect.

    Hi Jo,

Ok after spending the morning reading the Business Tax textbook, i revise my comment lol.

Business Tax is much better than Personal Tax, I feel it's something to really get stuck into. Personal Taxwas more about memorising the text, like the Ethics in level 3.

I was missing doing the workings, there seems to be plenty to get my head around in this module.

:001_tt2: I agree, I found BTX more interesting although PTX is very useful.
