acca/cima exemption deadline

Hi,

I have looked about on both the ACCA and CIMA website but can't find the answer.

I am due to finish the ICAS project and take my final AAT exams by the end of Jan at the latest. I will only find out the exam results in late February and providing I pass I am hopping to take one paper of either CIMA or ACCA (probably ACCA). Does any one know if having my results conformed by early March is enough time to register and have the exemptions approved for the June sitting? The AAT will probably take a while to issue the Certificate too.

Or can I just register with ACCA, pay the exam fees and tell them that the AAT exam results are due in a month or so? I really don't want to wait until December 2013 to sit the first ACCA exam!! that would just be a waste of 6 months.

I hope some one can help.

    Hello,

I can help with the ACCA query as I am in the same position now. I spoke with ACCA and the lady confirmed that once they have your exemption request it takes about 1-2 weeks to process it. She said that they can accept a print out of your results so you don't need to wait for your certificate.

When you book your first ACCA exam, it will highlight that you haven't yet completed F1-3. You are asked to confirm that you will be completing them prior to taking the exam you are booking. The lady at ACCA suggested I just confirm that I would be taking them and then once my exemptions were in place, it wouldn't matter. The official guidelines are that there is a deadline date for exemption requests which falls about 4 months before the exams, however I was assured that this method was a way around that, though isn't encouraged. So long as your exemptions are then processed prior to the exam, you shouldn't have a problem.
