Has anyone received their exam attendance docket yet? I've not had it and I cannot get through to the ACCA.

They will email you once it is ready, and you have to download it from MyACCA. They no longer post them out.

I thought they still posted them.

I'll have to look on 'myacca'.

I've just a quick query for anyone studying F8 (Audit and Assurance).

I've had some questions asking what is an Audit strategy and questions to that effect.

I feel I've put in some text book answers but the official Kaplan answers seems to get blurred between
what information is contained in an audit strategy and an audit plan. I'm really confused what type of
    answer they want now.

    Any ideas?

I am also struggling with audit plan and strategy :( there is hardly anything in my book on it and nothing on ACCA website which is frankly ridiculous given that we can be assessed on it. I spoke to ACCA today about my docket and they don't send them in the post now. I asked ACCA why study material is so confusing and they just told me that they cannot advise on tuition material or methods. I rang them back and spoke to someone else who told me that "approved" providers text books are reviewed by the ACCA. What help is that when I have already got my book. I refuse to pay the £80 BPP want.

Maybe we're getting to the bottom of why you're not passing this exam. You can't afford to pay for classroom teaching or a revision course, which is fair enough as they can be pricey. BUT if you're not going on a course, the very least you should do is to buy an approved text book, that way you know that all of the syllabus will be covered and the questions will prepare you for the types of questions you'll get in the exam. It's a very risky strategy to try and study for an exam with a book that isn't specifically written for the exam you're studying for.

Glynis, if I understand you correctly are you saying the BPP books are £80 each?? I've never paid anywhere near that, the textbooks are normally around £30 and the revision kit around £17. I have self studied from them for a few modules and think they're great. I've found you can get them a bit cheaper on Amazon as you can select free postage (takes a bit longer to arrive but if you order well in advance I think it's worth it to save a few quid) and can also get 5% student discount if you have an NUS extra card. The main thing to be aware of doing this is to make sure you do order the most up to date versions, as Amazon tend to sell older stock as well.

Mark, I'm sorry I can't help with your query - I managed to forget most of the little I learned about audit as soon as I finished the exam!

I've just checked MyACCA and my exam docket is there to download. I don't know if we're supposed to print them yet though, or wait till we have the email confirming they're available, in case they change anything on them. Mine even includes my photo from my ACCA ID card!

    Hi Rozzi,

Please don't worry about not remembering the audit strategy section.

I've seen about three different variations of it from question practices and the text book so think I will
just try and use a slimmed down version of the structure shown in the text book.

Hating this paper right now. I feel students with no background in auditing are at a fairly big
disadvantage on this one. Some of the examiner answers are not very helpful either.

At times like this I wonder why we all put ourselves through this crap.

Glynnis - you can buy a text book at around £30.00 and passcards are about £10.00, revision kits
    £17.00

If I ever pass this sadistic excuse for an exam I'll give you my study materials for free.

    Take care peoples.

Thanks I will look at the BPP books again. Mark I am so fed up myself of this exam. The questions are confusing and the answers are just so long winded and confusing. Students are disadvantaged who don't work in audit, as are home studiers. And what makes it worse is there is no support from tuition providers or ACCA.
God help us in December :(

The answers are long winded, but the suggested answers are always longer than what is required to pass. This is usually because there is more than one correct answer.

Students might be disadvantaged if they don't work in audit, but you could say that some who does work in audit is disadvantaged in regards to the performance management or financial management papers. Also, why would you expect support from a tuition provider who you are registered with?

    Hi Guys,

This may sound a silly question (sorry!) but how/where can you download the Exam Docket?

December will be my first exam and i'm not a lover of navigating the ACCA website.

    Thank you! :)

You log into MyACCA, then click on exam entry on the left. A new window may open (it did for me in my browser) then if you scroll down past the price list there should be a red box saying "Download docket".

I have been a student member of ACCA for three years and I am not a lover of navigating the website, it doesn't really get any easier!!!

Now I'm panicking as there is nothing in my ACCA account and I have not received anything in the mail.

Thank you Rozzi, I've seen it now!

Suppose I'd best actually start learning F4 now otherwise it won't matter whether I can download the docket or not! :-)

I still hadn't got my docket and rung ACCA and was horrified to find out I wasn't registered to sit the exam. I had originally entered for the wrong version which was corrected quickly but my payment was returned now they want to charge me a late exam entry fee. I didn't know the payment had been returned so how can they justify charging me nearly £300 :( Does anyone know if I can appeal these costs as I cannot afford to pay this.
