A relative doing their own tax has asked me a few question, but not being a tax person I'd rather ask you guys;

Business use of a van, which I think is 70%, what do you apply the 70% to?

I have it in my mind that its different with vans to cars, would it be just the fuel element?

Many thanks

    Not sure what your question is? If 70% is private use then this is simply drawings. I would advise your friend to see some professional help.

    Sorry I meant business use 70%, of Van, not vat - I need coffee, badly!

    So you'd recognise 70% of;
    fuel
    insurance
    repairs
    van capital costs

    I looked back on past threads and there seems to be a bit of conflicting advice. But as there's not other vehicle, some personal use needs to be recognised. Just wanted to confirm it is on everything and not just fuel.

    cheers!

    yes it's on everything van related - remember to restrict the HP interest too if it's on HP

    Many thanks, I had it in my mind for some reason you could put more through with a van compared to a car.
