I am studying ACCA F7 for June 2013 exam and have to say I regret opting for this one. It's very hard and even worse as a home student.

I have got my text book from EBay last week and wondered if there is an easy way to remember IAS 35 criterion? I am hoping to do a revision course soon but really struggling in the meantime :(

    Hi,

Your textbook is very out of date. IAS 35 was superseded by IFRS 5 in 2004 and IFRS 5 now incorporates Non-current assets held for sale.

You would be well advised to invest in a new textbook which is relevant for exams in June 2013 onwards. You should also look at the examinable documents list on ACCA website relevant to F7.

    Regards
    Steve

So why are people allowed to sell these books? I cannot return it to the seller apparently so I reported the matter to ACCA today who quite frankly couldn't have cared less. They won't intervene despite the fact that I pay hundreds of pounds to them each year :(

I have now lost more money because of this as I have now had to order a BPP book and they are not cheap. I'm beginning to think I should give this whole ACCA up and assign myself to the fact I will never be an accountant.

Glynis I'm afraid this is a free country where people can sell what they want if they no longer want it, need it etc. Why would ACCA has anything to do with it? Maybe you should have checked what you were buying especially with the fact that you bought it form Ebay, not from a training provider.

Glynis, I have just wasted 30 mins of revision time reading all of your old posts but I just couldn't help it. I have never met anyone who is so critical of everything and everyone. You hate ACCA, you hate agencies, it's ACCA's fault you fail, it's ACCA's fault you can't buy the right books, ACCA are conspiring against self studies, ACCA always make mistakes when marking your papers, exams are too hard, pass marks should be lowered for people who keep failing (). The list goes on and on. You've even been called a troll as people didn't believe you could possibly be real!!

I can now see that regular posters have stopped responding to you as you constantly ignore good advice.

I'm glad ACCA is hard, I want to qualify and for employers to know I have a worthwhile qualification and know my stuff. I want them to differentiate between someone who can buy the right text book and not one which is over 9 years out of date (sorry that's a poor dig but really, surely checking that you have the correct text for a syllabus which you know changes annually is obvious). I'm a self studier and have never worked in accounts, and I would be offended if ACCA offered me a lower pass mark to reflect this. You appear to be no worse off than many of us, yet you seem to want special treatment.

I am going to give you some advice and appreciate that you won't want it and will accuse me of being mean. Re-read all of your old posts and look at them critically. There is a constant theme running through all of them, basically that you consider nothing to be fair and ACCA somehow owe you something. Unfortunately life is not fair and you get nothing for free.

With all that said, I do admire your determination to pass ACCA. I would have given up well before now in your position and looked at other career choices.

    Hahaha.

There is nothing like a Glynnis induced thread to keep you amused.

It's almost become a highlight of the AAT forum lol.

Nps has written an excellent post here. I'm wondering why you (Glynis) bothered to ask us all a few weeks ago for advice on taking F7 as you seem to have just ignored it all. If you don't want to take our advice, fair enough, we don't necessarily know best, but it would have been nice if you had acknowledged our replies and explained why you had decided to take F7 anyway. People might then be more inclined to respond to your requests for help in the future.
