I think I read somewhere that you can now make notes in the 15 minute reading time before the exam, but I can't refind this info anywhere... I may have just made it up
I swear I read it somewhere but cannot for the life of me find it. Can someone either point me in the direction of the text or tell me I'm right/wrong!
Thanks

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for that.
Do you know if that is just on the rough paper or can be in the answer booklet or question paper, eg. can we highlight bits of questions?

This bit was less clear! We were told we could write on the paper, but I seem to remember the short questions were on the actual paper! A bit confusing there!0

Hello Becca
On the front of the November 2012 examination paper for Personal Taxation (Part 1 and Part 2) the second bullet point advises...
The first 15 minutes is designated as reading time. During this time you may read your question paper and legislation but you are not permitted to annotate your question paper or write in the answer folder. The Presiding Officer will inform you when you can start writing.
I'm not sure therefore whether you can make notes on scrap/rough paper or if it is purely reading time and you have to wait until you are told you can write. I would say no you can't make notes but am happy to be corrected by those who have sat ATT exams previously.
Hope your studies/revision are going well.

Hi, thanks guys.
Jo, it is since the Nov12 exams that I think I've seen it.. so brand new for May13 exams onward. But again I could be making it up!
Studies going... ok!? ALOT to remember! Finding the remembering more difficult than the actual learning!
Chat soon.

A quick search on Google and this post by one of the Tolleys tutors on their Tax Academy may answer your question (it looks like you can make notes in the 15 minutes pre examination reading time - PERT)

Hope this is what you were looking for.
If I find anything on the ATT website I'll let you know.

Hey

You're right - from this sitting you can now make notes (although sadly not start writing your answers). Don't get carried away with the notes though, I always find the reading time very useful for looking at any bits I might need in the legislation and finding them.
Good luck in your exams!0
