Did anyone else see the write up in PQ Magazine that ACCA will no longer be naming the examiners?

How does anyone think this will affect the papers? For example what happens when there is a change of examiner how will we know? Will ACCA tell us do you think?

I think it is a shame.
The article referred to the collective way in which papers are written.
I can't help thinking that there will still be one key examiner for each exam.
And if ACCA keep the name of that key examiner then we'll have the equivalent of what we call in F9 a "weak market".
Friends and colleagues will know the examiners' names. Others won't.

Students whose lecturers' know who is the key examiner is will have an advantage over those whose lecturers don't.

Our tutor said that the exams are written by an examiner and an assistant and reviewed by ACCA staff so it seems that more than one person might write the exams. I just worry that a change in examiner might not be communicated and the only way we discover it is when the paper changes.

Exactly Barry. But these things are never complete secrets. So some candidates will know while others are in the dark.

Why does knowing the examiner's name matter?

I just try and focus on learning the subject as thoroughly as I can and practice lots of questions.

    Good for you Mark.
That is a very good approach.
And a good sequence: master the subject and then put it into practice by completing as many questions as you can on the subject.
