Hi All...

If you was planning to leave your job, would you discuss it with your manager first? before you have found a new job. Has anyone done this.

Just wondered as I need to move on as I am emotionally and physically exhausted because of the pressure of work I am under.

Thanks

Jennie

If you're under pressure with your job, you should definitely discuss it with your manager first before spontaneously quitting. If you quit first, they might accept your resignation and you'll then never know if you/they could have mutually resolved your problems and otherwise made your job more tolerable.

If you have bills to pay - mortgage, rent, loans, mobiles, credit cards - and don't have anyone else to support you, the pressure you're feeling now will be nothing compared to what you'll experience if you don't find another job on similar money before the wolves come knocking at your door.

If you do have someone to support you, you're in a lucky position so go for it... but just bear in mind the above paragraph.
