Hi guys, I am working fulltime as an accounts manager and I am thinking of doing some returns for other people and probably some business consultancy and bookkeeping. Do I have to be an MIP before I can offer my services or can I start and then register as an MIP? The reason I ask is because I'd like to test the water first and see if there's any possible clients before paying for membership and licences. Thanks

As far as I know you have to register first (I did, on that basis!), may be worth giving them a call the AAT advice line were very helpful when I was completing my MiP application. Good luck!0

Agree with @rwb , I would also look into Professional Indemnity Insurance.0
