Spreadsheet exam

Has anyone sat this recently, if so it's it similar to the test assessment that is on AAT?

Fairly similar, but as many people in class moaned the details in question 1 - designing a spreadsheet - is deliberately confusing.

Otherwise yes, it's the same format: 5 questions, the 1st is usually the longest and sometimes it can be easy, generally a income cash forecast. The others include a formulas, lookups, charts or graphs and multiple choice.

Cheers. I am fairly competent at spreadsheets, but fear the wording of the questions will be a hindrance.

The best advice that my tutor gave to our class before the exam was to take our time and read everything carefully. EVERYTHING.

He said that in the exam, there's 17 marks in total. 1 of those marks is for doing a vlookup (in task 4), and another 1 or 2 marks are for creating a PivotTable.

But there's also 1 mark for making sure that column headings are formatted correctly, 1 mark for making sure all monetary amounts are listed in Currency format, 1 mark for adding your name and AAT number in the page header, 1 mark for colouring individual cells if it mentions that at some point (it usually asks somewhere for you to highlight cells by colouring the text and/or cell background), and a couple of other similar basic things.

So don't worry so much about the more complex parts (like Vlookups and PivotTables), and just focus on following every single instruction to the letter. The basic stuff - highlighting cells, formatting number types, etc; is really basic, and carries enough marks to pass the whole exam. :)
