I have just been handed a VAT client who sells, ship and commissions large pieces of machinery to manufacturing companies, some based in the UK, some in the EU and some outside the EU, I know that I will need to complete the EC Sales list. but I have never done this before, so I need some guidance, Can anyone steer me in the direction of really good reference material?

    Best place is the Inland revenue website.
    The forms are really easy to complete as all you need is the monthly turnover and customers vat no. I check the vat numbers on VIES website because if it's wrong it won't let you submit the form. Make sure your three monthly returns agree to your vat return.

    You can file EC sales listing online with VAT return you will need sales to each customer as the list is completed by stating country code VAT registration number and total value of supplies for each customer totals should equal box 8 figure in VAT return.
