Can someone help? I qualified a few months ago and trying to start up my business as a sole trader but have the following questions.
1) Even though a sole trader, I will be trading with a company name. I have decided on registering it as a limited company as well to enable me secure it for future use. My question is can one trade with a name as a sole trader and have it registered as a limited company at the same time and if so will the limited company filings at company house be for a dummy company.
Thanks will ask my second question when the above is answered thanks in advance.

If I understand correctly, you want to trade as a sole trader (say John Smith T/A Dee42) but you would like to register a Ltd company (Dee42 Ltd) to protect the name and for future use?
If so yes you can but you will need to file dormant accounts at co house until the company starts trading.
What you can not do is trade as a sole trader as Dee42 Ltd, as this would be misleading.6 -
Thanks Marie for your swift response. Yes a sole trader (T/A Say Dee42 Accounting Services) but will register DEE42 as a limited company.
Marie my promotional materials like website and business cards doesn't need to state my name before the company's for example John Smith T/A Dee42 right?5 -
Your promo materials should simply say "Dee42 Accounting Services" (if that's what you're calling it)
No reference should be made to the Company whatsoever.2 -
Thanks TS and MN, I am grateful.0
