Accountants Fees

Can someone please advise on this. How much roughly would you expect an Accountants Practice to charge for Year End Accounts from Trial Balance stage for a Company with a Turnover of £2,000,000? Books in good order all on Sage.

Thanks.

There's really too many variables to give a decent answer Jewels; turnover is to an extent irrelevant, it will depend on the complexity of transactions etc, and a big point (potentially) is FRS 102 transition if required at the next period-end. Anywhere from £1,500 to £10k potentially (although unlikely to go that far north if Sage is indeed in good order and supporting documents are readily accessible).

Will also to an extent depend on the size/reputation of the practice doing the work, as well as location.

Are you trying to get an idea for your own pricing, or are you looking for someone to prep your/one of your client's accounts? If the latter, just get quotes from a few local firms, most will do an initial meeting and fee quote without charge.

No it is someone I know who got a price from a local Accountants slightly cheaper than what they were paying somewhere else but now the local Accountants have got the Business and they are saying that they have no idea how they managed to quote at that price and it should be at least two thousand more. It just seems such a lot more when they had already seen the books before they quoted.

Sounds like a case of the classic partner 'finger-in-the-wind' quote to win business whilst underestimating the actual amount of work required.
