Thanks Sandy, thats really kind of you.
It is a late start for her term towards the end of September I think. Shes just got to get the grades now which with her illness is going to be a lot of work on her part. Thats another reason Im taking a rest from CIMA for now as she needs support at the moment with her study.
I absolutely loved Bognor after just a day of visiting the uni. Me and Gee's boyfriend walked down to the beach while she had one of her interview tests and it was amazing. Its probally going to be our permanent holiday destination while shes down there. Just a shame its such a long drive for us. It took me about 4 hours there and the same back on the evening which just about finished me off lol.
Rinske, Im not going to even attempt the E1 exam may. If I say I'm going to attempt it I will have to try and cram in study and thats just not working at the moment. Maybe after Gee goes to Uni things will settle down a bit. Thanks for your support.0 -
Understandable.
Hopefully it all works out with her grades and you'll get some rest again soon.0 -
Just to update you I called CIMA to cancel the exam explaining my daughters condition and they told me if I could provide proof they may be able to help as it was exceptional circumstances. After emailing evidence from Gee's doctors I am been given a fee credit towards my next exam
. I must say CIMA really pulled through and have given me new hope of passing these exams when circumstances improve. 0 -
Oh that's good news again!
Glad you got the support from them in this respect and you got some credit.
Good luck helping your daughter through the exams and hopefully you can settle in some routine again soon (which may or may not include some study).0 -
evening all
just been catching up on this thread. jo, glad everything is working out for you and i am so glad cima have been understanding.
well, since starting the new job, i have not had a moment. it has been horrendous and i wish i had left the job now and gone and done something easy!! i have caught one of the managers with his hands in the till to a fine sum of thousands of euros
so all my working and homelife has been filled with all sorts of rubbish that goes along with it. i have never been so nervous on leaving my house to go to work for fear of repurcussions from his members of staff.
needless to say no study has been done, i am winging it next week, i am going to go and get the experience of the exam (and the day off) but i will be throwing a prayer to him upstairs to give me a bit of a break.
i am on the verge of sacking cima for a while as everytime i tryand do anything towards it, my job throws me a curveball. we will see
how is everyone else doing?

Good to hear from you Tracy, and good on you. In a previous role I too found someone with their hands in the till to the tune of thousands! It was someone I had considered a friend and as you say a horrible experience. I was lucky to have a good boss who supported me through the investigations which had to be done privately. You ARE doing the right thing and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We put a charge against her house for the sums we found which probally wasn't it all but at least some had a chance of being recovered>
I am typing this on a blackberry so will have to correct mistakes when I'm at a proper computer sorry. (done):hang in there and good luck

Aww Tracy that sounds like a horrible experience!
Hope you find the time to deal with it and at least get some support, even if it's not from his members of staff!
Is there at least someone higher up supporting you?
I'm winging my exam as well, hoping for a 30% and settling for that. I'm still struggling with so many things and just like you, starting a new job (in the same company) and trying to juggle training up someone in my job and learning a new role, while both are far behind on the deadlines just has taken all the remaining energy I had left. I got Thursday and Friday afternoon off, so that I can use that time to study, but I can't see myself getting close to a pass!
I really hope things work out for you and hopefully you can surprise yourself on the exam!0 -
thanks ladies
yes i have been very stressed - luckily the new lot who i work with are very sympathetc and also very professional.
rinske, i know how you feel with new job/trainee etc, it is a strain on time and patience lol
so i have printed more past exams and i think i am going to lock me in my office and pretend i am shut - younever knwo, it might work
all the best

Let me know if it works! I might need to find my own private office as well soon!
I need a private office as well, I think. We got the auditors in as well at the moment and spent most of yesterday and today with one of them. Which is perfectly fine, but in between having three colleagues asking questions, while trying to learn my own job and explaining the auditors stuff from my old job, I'm now knackered, with hardly any work done. I started at 8, finished at 5.30 somewhere and somehow in between I haven't even found the time to take a lunch break.
At least I had a clear end time though...

Quick update, the manager admitted theft to the tune of 18,000 euros and had been given a two year suspended sentence. Apparently he led a life which involved brothels and drinking expensive champagne. Amazing, I think he got let off lightly.
Have picked up the coma books again, but I have another regiment arriving over summer and I have to deal with another 250 new personnel aargh when will it end
How's everyone else doing?1 -
Hullooooooo,
Long time no post.
Glad to hear your picking up your books again Tracy. I havent sat anymore exams since last time I was on hear due to loads of negative personal stuff (won't go into) and some positive stuff.
I got married 29th June so now the wedding organising's out the way im too planning on dusting off me books and getting back into it. 2 CIMA exams under my belt is 2 too many to quit (believe me I've considered it many times the past year).
Anyone else got so far behind they feel like a newbie??

Hi everyone,
Now that the disaster that was P2 is firmly behind me I'm onto strategic level. Any advice from anyone who's done it? I should get my books this week and my lectures begin in the first week of August... scary stuff! I had a look through F3 briefly and it looks terrifying.

CIMA Strats
Hi Manda,
I just passed the Strats in May. It's tough, but do-able. The thought of doing 3 at once was scary and all the classes, 3 nights a week for 8 weeks was hard work!
F3 - Has the most new stuff in it, but it is really interesting and all the formulas are given to you so practice following the formulas and you're halfway there. 50/50 written/calculation
P3 - Has no relation to P1 or P2 whatsoever you're probably happy to know. This paper is all about risk and controls. So if you're good with applying common sense then it's okay. There is about 10% numbers in this paper, usually financial risk, like hedging. Lots of practice will help you understand this.
E3 - Our E3 teacher said that out of the 6 evenings we had classes, 1 hour would relate to new stuff and he was right. It's an extension of E1 & E2. You'll get to know Mr Porters theories inside out! It is very rare that they'll ask to use a model, you'll have to work that out for yourself. There is around 10 marks in Section A for calculations that are never that hard, a basic NPV for example.
The Pre-seen sounds daunting and by all means read it a few times, but it's not that useful, most of the questions in section A relate to the unseen materal given on the day, the pre-seen is more for backround and reference.
Believe in yourself, don't neglect any parts of the syllabus and remember that if other people can do it, you can too!
Good luck.0 -

Thank you for your helpful reply, Folander! Reading it has put me at ease, I'm looking forward to E3 now. I felt comfortable learning the theories for E2 so hopefully it shouldn't be too bad. The F3 formulas are what scared me the most but if they're given... phew! My classes are evening too, three classes a week after work (one week has four, not very excited about that week) so I plan to step up my studying and revising. I could have done more for my May exams and I know that strategics will be punishing. It's such a big step up from AAT, I didn't revise much for those exams but now I spend at least a month on it alone.
Thanks again and good luck with T4!

Well hello everyone. Long time no speak

Been in Yorkshire for over a year now and loving it.
I have finally picked up my books. I am starting with F1 so am busy printing notes off and reading books. I have yet to book an exam but I am thinking of booking it to sit it in about 10 weeks time. Will this be enough time?
I am doing self study again so I know it is going to be hard, but I need to do something as I keep paying my subscription fees but doing nothing about it.
Hope to hear from you all soon
Tracy
