Hi guys
I'll be sitting my synoptic in September and been practising the spreadsheet section but I have a really old version (Execl 2003). I'm thinking of updating my Excel but was wondering if I should go for either 2007 or 2010 version. What is the main difference between these two? I'm not from an accounting background and have not used Excel since my school days. Which version would be more beneficial for this exam?
Thanks in advance

Really! I doubt most Training Provider have Excel 2016, as like most businesses will be a version or two behind in software and operating systems, since some updates are superficial, others less so. Quite a jump from 2003 to 2007 for Excel.
Excel 2007 and 2010 are both functionally similar, but in layout clearly different. I use both and much prefer 2010. Can't tell you about the synoptic as I did L3 last year though would be surprised if AAT based a workplace based application on the latest version as it would contradict what most companies would have in practice.0 -
The AAT Spreadsheet tasks on part 2 of the Level 3 Synoptic are all prepared on Excel 2003.
A lot of training providers do have Excel 2016. What version does your training provider/exam centre have? Probably best to practice for your assessment on whatever version they have.1 -
Thanks for the replies. I've been taking level 3 at Kaplan Centre and I think they use the 2007 version.0

Not all Kaplan have 2007, as one told me 20100
