GDPR and Accounting Software

Hi All,

I know this is very late in the day but I'm still not entirely clear on GDPR and the use of accounting software. If anyone can offer any clarity that would be great.

Using quickbooks online accountant for my own accounts (data used will be client names and addresses for processing sales invoices). Is this classed as third party sharing? Just wondering if I need to update anything in my Engagement Letters.

Have detailed this use of data in my information map and downloaded a security white paper from QuickBooks/Intuit which details security measures in place (e.g. encryption, secure browsers, passwords, firewalls etc) to keep on file. Is this enough?

Hoping I'm not the only one struggling with/worrying about this :(

    I've found the attached file helpful. A sensible guide.
    For most accountants who have been following the DPA as they should have been the changes are not that huge.

    Thanks Burg (apologies for the very late reply!). A really useful article indeed. As you say not that much change really, I think I just got swept along with all the scaremongering and hype back in May!
