Hi,
I have recently just completed my AAT Level 4 qualification and would really like to continue with ACA, but at the moment i am not working in finance.
Does this matter? Can i do the studies and gain the qualifications without moving jobs?
If you know how please share!
Thanks
Michelle

ACA requires you to gain the required work experience with an ICAEW registered training provider. I believe you can sit the exams without the experience (don't quote me) but to gain the qualification you need the three years experience. Most training employers are practices but there are a few in industry too.

You can't sit the case study, which is usually the last exam unless you are on a training contract. The ICAEW have changed the rules now, so you don't need to be with a registered firm, just a registered person, who is suitably qualified and can oversee your training.

You would struggle if you are not in a firm due to lack of support. The exams are very hard and you need to be surrounded by the other accountants.
