@AAT_Team Could anyone help clarify, to become a self employed bookkeeper you need to have a licence. However, a professional reference can be from a client. I assumed you weren't allowed to carry out any bookkeeping work until you had a licence?
Is there a certain amount of clients you can have before you need a licence?

Correct - if you are AATQB you can't offer self-employed bookkeeping services without a licence (unless you are authorised and regulated by a professional body or you offer work on a subcontractor basis - see licence exemption policy).
There is no minimum number of clients as this would have been mentioned in the licensing policy / licence exemption policy / Licensing Regulations.0
