Marketing For Self Employed

Hi all, does anyone have experience in going self employed and offering accountancy services? I was wondering on what are the common services you provide and what sort of marketing do you do to attract potential customers?

    I have been using Yell.com for a year now. I can't say I am overly impressed with the results so thinking of trying another marketing method. I have also been on Quickbooks Find an Accountant and got a couple of good leads on there. Overall it's been a tough slog to get new clients in the first year of my practice.

    Can you guys please advise how I go self employed? I received got a AATQB, do do you suggest I create a limited company and then apply for practice license? How do I get suggestion on pricing for services, suggedt of software package for initial years, insurance and compliance requirements. Not sure if AAT will advise on this if I contact them.
