AATQB - now what?

I completed my Level 3 last year with a distinction (90%), but have found that without any practical experience this doesn't seem to count for much. I noticed most of my coursemates were already working in finance, whereas I have no finance background whatsoever. I was, and still am, working in a warehouse. I've applied for many bookkeeping jobs, but it seems employers value experience much more highly than any qualification, and I am at a loss as to how I'm supposed to acquire such experience. I would be grateful for any advice on how to break this deadlock!

    The market right now is difficult, I know it can make you a feel a bit down. Just stay positive and keep applying around, try to get into Purchase / Sales Ledger jobs then grow from there. Or you could even try to volunteer somewhere showing your commitment. Also what sites do you apply on, Reed, Totaljobs, CV Library, Indeed, LinkedIn? Are you on LinkedIn, if so try to add recruiters from your area on there and speak to them.

    I am doing AAT Bookkeeping level 3 and have one more exam to complete (Tax process) In a similar position to Johnny (have no accounting experience)


    But I have been looking at KBM/CAC training they offer accounting software training (Learning Sage, Quickbooks, Xero, Brightpay, iris, etc) along with work experience for 3-6 months. They charge around £500+ maybe get cheaper deal on black friday. They provide job references give you their accounting practices. I have been looking at my local accountants and asked if they offered work experience, unpaid voluntarily work. Most of told me they don't have time to train people.

    I want to finish AAT bookkeeping level 3 quickly so I can start learning software. Currently have no software training not even Excel. Pitman training my provider didn't include Sage 50 nor Excel training as part of my course. They have quoted me around £300-500+ for Sage 50 accounts training, payroll but don't offer work experience.
