    I've done Personal tax tuition, just waiting for the exam and am currently doing business tax. I'll help if I can, but don't hold out much hope, I've found it extremely difficult.<BR><BR>Annette<BR><BR>p.s. email address is in my profile, if you prefer.

    Im struggling too.<BR><BR>One of my biggest fears is this car formula it does my head in:<BR><BR>car cost x 15% (x1%(emmisions-155)/5)<BR><BR><BR>Nooooooooo!!!<BR><BR>I hate tax and will without doubt be retaking this in December!<BR><BR>Claire T

    its a bloody nightmare... tis all I can say.<BR><BR>One of those subjects where I know its a weak area and I should be revising, but I dont because its too hard!!     Me too!<BR><BR>I thought that this unit was going to be a doddle, a bit of income tax etc. a piece of cake.<BR><BR>I'm struggling with all of it especially indexation and taper relief.<BR><BR>I too can't get into revising for it because I'm so wound up about trying to get to grips with DFS.<BR><BR>I've resigned myself to concentrating on DFS and perhaps resitting PTC in December as I might be able to home study that unit.<BR><BR>Good luck to everyone taking exams, whatever level they may be.

    Hi, I am doing personal tax and business tax and nobodyin my class seems to think they will pass it either, revision for these is falling by the wayside as the other exams seem more important as have to pass those. Think I am mad doing both taxes. SO much to remember in tax !

    Now I dont want to sound like a big head here... but I think I am getting this melarchy.<BR><BR>I got the BPP Assessment Kit, have some book by Alan Melville and also the Dec 03 paper with answers.<BR><BR>In the Assessement Kit there are three exam papers, two practice and one specimen paper. So looking at the practice exam papers, BPP being BPP I think they test everything and they seem a bit harsh, but then I went on to do the Specimen exam paper and its very similar to that of the AAT December actual exam paper.<BR><BR>I would say have a go at these, its working for me (or at least I hope it is), and I certainly feel a lot calmer about the PTC exam now.<BR><BR>I reckon they are going to test you on a Personal Tax thingy, relating to a salary and benefits then you have to fill in a bit of a form. The second half is shares and indexing, then some Capital Gains Tax stuff. Ok, I hear you saying PHOA at this stage, but with the amount of practice and work that I have put into this it seems to be going in.<BR><BR>I think the rule of thumb of getting through these or any of the AAT exams is practice, practice, practice.<BR><BR>I hope this helps<BR>Mandy<BR>- x -

    Yes I am doing both tax, although I wish I hadnt now as it would of made it much easier. However, the tutor said even if we dont pass the taxes, at least we have got some knowledge of them. I am not sure if I will br able to help though, cant remember much, and exams not far away! Am doing it day release at college, doing tax means I dont get home until 6.30!

    Message for MrsClaireT<BR><BR>Hi <BR><BR>I wouldn't be able to remember that formula either!<BR><BR>We have been told:<BR><BR>((emissions* - 155) / 5) + 15 = %<BR><BR>or ((emissions* - 155) / 5 +15 +3 = %<BR><BR>* rounded down to nearest "5" eg 192 becomes 190<BR><BR>ie Take 155 from emissions figure, divide that by 5, then add 15 to get percentage rate which is then applied to the cost, not forgetting to add another 3 for a diesel car.<BR><BR>It really isn't as bad as it seems it looks more complicated written down!<BR><BR>Good luck with it!<BR><BR>This is about the only bit of the syllabus I can remember<BR>
