Hi,
I have just got my first client. I have been bookeeping for my husbands family business for a few years now and have decided to go for it.

I will be `doing the books` for a ltd company and wonder how much I should charge per hour.
I will be setting the system up and then book keeping up to trial balance inc. VAT returns plus a few bits and pieces like compiling the assets register ect.

I was thinking of charging £15.00 per hour based on what I was told by another bookeeper who charges between 15 to 25 pounds depending on the client.

I will be collecting the paperwork and bringing it home and then returning it to the client when it is done.

Does £15 sound a fair price or is it a bit optimistic.

Any information will be gratefully recieved,

Regards,

Sarah

    bookeeping fees?

Charges between £15 and £20 p.h for the bookkeeping only are realistic nowadays.
Good luck in getting more clients.
Also, my advise to read the AAT Guidelines and Regulations for Self-employed members, become licensed and insured.
This is what I am doing at the moment
Ursula

    Sarah

Good luck with your venture. Do let us know how it pans out. I posted on the general Forum (where do I go from here?) recently and feel I need to move up and on. Well done for making the break to self employed.

marti
bookeeping fees?

Hi, I have been self employed for about 2 years now. I first starded charging £15 per hour based on the fact that when I was employed I was earning £13.50 per hour. I soon realised that I had not taken into account holidays and expenses. I now charge £20 per hour and my clients are happy to pay it.
Hope this helps and good look.

Carol M
