Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me with this query. I operate all accounts on Sage but prepare invoices on an automated estimating and invoicing system I have designed. The system works really well and as there is minimal data input (being automated) there are very few errors which can be made - mainly spelling or typos. I appreciate invoicing can be done on Sage but this doesn't cover the estimating side and there are specific searches and reports which we require from the system which Sage does not offer.

My query is, to further automate the system, can anyone tell me how to import the invoicing data directly into Sage. I read a message a couple of weeks ago about someone having designed a database system (concerning fuel I think) and their ICT expert had shown them how to import their data into Sage. Was very impressed but didn't consider this for my own system at the time.

Would really like to base my MAS project on the system designed and would like to be able to point out that this is an improvement which could be made, even if I don't actually make this modification. It would however be helpful if I could write about the improvement as if I understood what was involved.

Very grateful to anyone who may be able to shed some light.
Hi

You can easily import data into Line 50 but you must get it into the correct format and then use the import routine.

To get the layout from Line 50 go to File>>import then click on import file details and select Audit trail transactions. You can then copy the layout to Excel and enter the data.

Save the file as a CSV and then import it into Sage. If it errors it wont import the data and will give you an error report.

You cant write back directly to Sage from Excel but we are Sage developers and can create a seemless link if required.

Regards

Richard
0 -

Thanks for all your information Richard. Very interested to know more about the seamless link procedure. Is this something I may be able to develop myself or is it best left to the experts? If this is task requiring specific expertise how much roughly is this likely to cost?

Thanks again.0 -

No problems

You will be able to create the import file and manually import it yourself. If you want the link to be seamless at the click of a button you will need us to write the link for you. We can do this as we are Line 50 / 100 / MMS developers.

If you want more info on it email me at rbrewster@smithcooper.co.uk

Regards

Richard0 -

I can follow what you are saying about the Import process up to the point of getting a load of individual items in individual invoices, but I cannot work out how I need to format the CSV to get it to add more then one item to a sigle invoice.

Is this possable?0
