Hi

I wonder if anyone can tell me the amount of work involved in the DFS. I only have this to do to complete the Technician level.

I work full time, do you think that it is possible to start DFS in September and get through everything for the December exam. I did the costing ones from Jan and took both exams in June.

I would appreciate any help or advice.

DFS
There is a lot of work in DFS, you need to do loads of practice to get things right and you need to learn all the FRS's and SSAP's before the exam. If you worked solidly each week I think you could take it at Christmas but all I can recommend is that you do as many past papers as you can get your hand on. Make sure you practice consolidated profit and loss accounts as they are not often in the exams but then were in June's paper and that threw people.

Annette0 -
DFS
Hi Julie

I started DFS about a month ago and am doing PEV/PCR too. I think it's ok so far (just started cash flow statements section, haven't started consolidated accounts yet though).

It was a bit daunting at first - as bluewednesday said - remembering the SSAPs and FRSs, but I when you get your head around a few (don't think you have to rote learn them and quote them exactly!) and you know your debits from your credits (definitely most important in DFS!) you should be ok.

See Tonychaproniere's thread above - he's thinking of taking on 4 exams!0 -
DFS
Hi Julie,

I took five exams in June, 3 technician (DFS, Personal and Business tax) and two payroll exams. I didn't actually decide how many to take until the 14th April, at which point I started studying (home study). Worked full time, fair enough I had the practical experience, but it was still five exams. Have a seven year old son and a husband to look after as well. (That's two kids, right

I passed all of them. I think you can manage DFS, to me it was one of my most favoured exams out of the lot of them. (I am sad, aren't I?) Incidentally, I agree with Annette that the P & L consolidation must have thrown a lot of people in June. The exam was demanding, but very fair, I feel. Practising past papers is my advise, too.

Good luck to you, let us know how you get on.

Ditti 0
