Hi, Just a quick question - how long does it normally take between applying for full membership and it being granted? I have only just applied but now that I have finally completed the qualification I can't wait to get the letters (even though the only thing that will probably use them is the AAT magazine!!) Hi Robert, The process shouldnt be that long. When I qualified in 2001 I got my results at the end of August and I was admitted as a member on 17th September. The key is to complete the application as soon you get your results. I fully understand how keen you are to use the letters. I couldnt wait to use mine, people are can be cynical and say its very pretentious, but I always say that I worked very hard for those letters and therefore I use them when ever I can! I use them on letter, faxes and email footers etc Regards Lee

Hi Robert, I was admitted as a member this year. I sat my last exam in December 2003, got the result in February, recieved the application form in March and was admitted in August. The time difference was because the assessors wanted more info from my previous employers and I was having a problem getting the professional recommendation but eventually got my application accepted and was admitted in August. Now I use the designatory letters MAAT whenever I can. Andrew

Hi Robert I passed my last exam in June, results in August, admitted as a member on 10 September. Still haven't had cause to use the letters yet though. As an aside, does anyone know how long it takes for the new elections to appear on the website? Thanks Sonia

Hi Robert, I completed everything in Feb but sent my membership form in yesterday. I had a delay as I work for my In Laws so couldn't get my recommendation bit signed by them. All done now though and like you I can't wait. Let me konw when yours arrive and I will do the same. A friend I made on this forum got hers within 2 weeks!! Regards, Sarah

Hi Sarah, I got my full membership through today so I'm really happy at the moment. The only 'unfortunate' thing about it is that I received a receipt for my membership fee two days ago addressed with the letters already in place after my name - it would have been nice if my membership pack/confirmation was the first piece of mail received with the letters but never mind. I received the letter explaining it takes about three weeks for applications to be processed exactly one week ago so your membership should hopefully be through in the next few days. Hi Robert, My full membership arrived today. Yippee!! Sarah E Smith MAAT sounds good. Hmm Who else can I telephone and tell? Heh Heh. It was exciting when the letter came through the letter box this morning. My daughter is not in school today as she is not well so she was here when I opened it and was excited too (its a bit worrying as she is only 12!!) The awards ceremony I mentioned is not ran by my college it is the AAT organised ones. I qualified in Feb when did you qualify? maybe your ceremony will be next time. I don`t know. I couldn`t go to my `areas` ceremony as it was full but am on the reserve list for a different area. Do you know where on the website the new members are listed as I havn`t been able to find the page? Regards, Sarah

Hi Sarah, Many congratulations!!! I didn't realise the local AAT areas did ceremonies - do they contact you to invite you or do you have to contact them? As I only finished September and become a member in October I expect I would be eligible for the next ceremony if there is one. Which area are you? I'm Cambridgeshire. If you use the 'Search' box at the top of the page and type 'elections' you can see the new members listed, although it seems to only go up to May 2004 (unless I am looking at the wrong place!). Hi Robert, I think you will probably get your invite next time around. My awards ceremony should have been in the Barbican centre, London but it was full up. I am on the waiting list for Nottingham. From what I remember there were ceromonies in Bristol, Nottingham, London, Manchester and Newcastle. I think there was another one but i have forgotton where. I have put up a posting asking about the ceremonies which have taken place but there has not been any replies. Maybe everyone is sworn to secrecy(sp?) or brainwashed heh heh.
