I currently operate as self-employed on a part-time basis and am considering going self-employed full-time. My current clients have mainly been builders and individuals with tax returns to sort out, but I am considering expanding. Can any of you full-time self-employeds out there give me their experiences on what the average income is from clients they have and/or the general client/work mix.

I am considering targetting particular sectors such as pubs, hairdressers etc - any experience of this approach for example?

Any experiences you can give me would be appreciated, as I have posted a similar question before and got no response?

It varies so much depending on how good the client is at providing sound info, their willingness to pay and how hungry you are for work at any price. For an idea of fees try looking on EBay - other services - a couple of accountancy practices advetise fixed rates there.
Ultimately though its down to what you can get away with!
regards

0 -

The more flexible you are about what sector you want to work for the quicker you will fill up your hours. Most businesses will already have an accountant they are happy with, so your business will come from new businesses, or those who need to change their current arrangements. Be less flexible with your fees. Decide what you are worth (by doing some local market research) negotiate with individual clients around your set fees. When you secure new business you should consider it to be a long term commitment and later on when you become really busy you may regret having to work long hours for lower income than other accountants.0
