Study leave entitlement

I was just wondering what study leave entitlement people in practice are generally entitled to for their studies after qualifying AAT?

I work in practice and am studying ACCA (part 2 stage), I attend the taught and revision course at BPP for which my employers pay for and allow me the time off. However, for home revision before the exam I am having to take out of my holiday entitlement (of which I only get 15 days per year).

Also, my training contract with my employer states that should I leave the company they will look to recover the cost of any courses/fees for the previous 12 months plus may even look to recover my salary costs for the time I've had off to attend college.

How does this compare to other peoples???

Study leave entitlement
I had to take study leave as part of my holiday, but I've known others to have 2 days per exam.

You might want to have a look on the ACAS website www.acas.co.uk because I believe the minmimum annual leave is four weeks per year.0 -

Hi

Like susantrim says above, your annual leave is four times your working week (do you work partime). However, a seemingly little known fact is that employers can consider bank holidays as part of annual leave.

As for time off and paid BPP courses, these in itself does seem quite generous. As for having to pay back fees of the previous 12 months, I have heard of this in some companies and it seems to vary quite a bit.

Ive previously been doing home study. I get exam days off, everything paid for (stuent registration, tuition and exams including retakes) and although I dont get additional leave for revison I have no 'pay back' clause in my contract.

Study support (if any direct support) varies widely from company to company, you really need to look at the overall picture.

Neil0 -
Study leave entitlement
Hi,

Your lucky that you get time off work to go to the course. I used to have to go to college on a night after work. Not much fun when you've been working all day and havent had chance to get any tea.

If I want to do CIMA/ACCA I have to go on a night again. I get no Study leave either.

0
