I am sitting the ECR exam on Monday, and I have a few tips I would like to share with all the other poor people who are siting this exam to!
Firstly, Process Costing will not be in the exma! Yippee!
Costing book keeping will be in the exam, eg, a journal or accounts for the stock card! The journal was done badly in June's exam, so it will probably be a journal.
In section 2 there will not be as many grids drawn out for you, so be aware of how to set out the grids, and what info needs to be in them!
Hope this all helps! Good luck everyone!

<< Quote 'My tutor from college had a meeting with the examiner who wrote this years paper' unquote

A likely tale. >>

Can I just say, that I am only trying to help other people in my postion. I am been kind enough to share my tips with you all! I got these from my college tutuor, and she was not the only tutor in this meeting! As you are probably unware, these meetings do happen, to discuss AAT exam issues and previous papers! But seen as you are not interested then why bother reading this in the first place????

If you don't believe what the post says, then that is your problem.
Question though, how confident are you? Do you know what to put in the grids if we are asked without any preprinted information? If you do then good for you, but others may not, and this piece of information may just help others out, which is why Kerry went out of her way to share with the rest of us.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself for putting a snarky comment like that on the thread.

Thank you again Kerry.

<< I'm sorry, but if it is true, then I am scandalised that only people who 'know the examiner' have been given this info. I don't think it is ethical that there are thousands of students not aware that the exam format has been changed for this year's paper.

I don't see how the exam can be fair or ethical when some students have been told in advance what's in it and others not. >>

I'ts not a matter of those who "know the examiner". There was a conference for AAT tutors. All of the AAT Tutors at my college went and my ECR tutor gave me very similar feedback. Blame your tutor for not letting you know these things, and be thankful that some students want to help each other.

Oh my, that was a bit snappy for my first post...

<< I am with a very well-known college, I sat ECR last year, and although, yes, the paper was very similar to the Simulation, and yes, the tutor crowed about it afterwards, however, none of my tutors have ever made grandiose claims to know what is in forthcoming exams.

Which college are you with because maybe I can throw away the syllabus and just let the tutor fill me in on the exams questions. >>

I really think this is getting out of hand now. I don't think that anyone is claiming to know exactly what is in the exam, but just giving general tips of what may come up.
From this thread I have realised that I must swot up on the layout of various things, for just in case it crops up.
The same thing happened when I sat the FRA exam in June. Someone on this forum posted a thread saying that there would be a suprise in store. I took that on board and went through my books chapter by chapter making sure that I had a sound knowledge for the just in case, which personally I don't think is a bad thing, and I was really pleased that I did, because we were faced with a full Balance sheet from begining to end, which is one of the things I really swotted up on after reading the thread.!!

What exam(s) are you doing next week poohbear? You sound as though you have finished intermediate, and if that is the case, why are you not giving a bit of more moral support for your fellow students?, I'm sure we would be greatful if you could give us a few ECR studying tips.

Cheers blondie
