2. Value Added Per Employee is a measure of productivity

Value Added = Sales Revenue - (cost of materials and bought in services)

Value Added can therefore be used as a measure of overall company performance and often the value added per employee is a performance indicator used by manaement in order to measure productivity.

I hope that helps

    Couple of Last Minute Queries....

    SSAP 13

This is to do with accounting for research and development. Basically, pure and applied research expenditure is written off directly to the P&L. Development expenditure is written off to the P&L UNLESS the following criteria can be met:

The project must: Separately and clearly defined project
Expenditure separately identifiable
Commercially viable
Technically feasible
Overall profit expected
Resources exist to complete the project

Notice the first six letters spell "SECTOR" which should help you in the exam if it comes up.

FRS 13

This concerns derivatives and other financial instruments. This basically is concerned with how a company raises money (financial instruments). It is purely a note in the Accounts - hence the title of FRS 13: Derivatives & Other Financial Instruments: Disclosure.

Hope this helps.
