Having survived last week, we're now faced with the devolved assessments over the next couple of weeks. Tomorrow is the Finance devolved followed by Reports & Returns.

Is anyone else wondering why we have to do a devolved "in house" assessment having just sat the FRA Intermediate exam? I know it's for your portfolio etc, etc but it seems like an anti climax really and it's hard to psyche yourself up for it.

Devolved Assessments
I think we are really supposed to do the devolved assessments before the exam but due to time constraints it doesnt always seem to happen that way

I studied my foundation at a previous college and they said that they do the devolved assessments before the exam because several students fail to return to complete the devolved assessments once they have taken the central asessment.

There are several things in the devolved that central do not test you on, for example updating subsidiary ledger accounts and balancing off - at intermediate stage it is presumed you know these accounting entries therefore more focus is placed on trial balance, P+L, balance sheet etc.

Looking at the practice devolved assessments, they seem quite tough!0 -

Hi Michelle,

Have just sat my devolved today - talk about intense! Should have taken 4 hours, but it's taken us all so long that we've got to finish it off next week!!

I made the mistake of mentally switching off after last week, so I've just been brought back down to earth with a bump.

Two "two hour" sections to complete. It was worse than the actual exam sat last week.

I'm almost through it now though.

How about you?

0 -

Has anybody sat the costing paper yet. I sat my one last month and I have got the skills test coming up next week. Me too, I really do not understand the purpose of doing skill tests after you have taken the exam. It's just so confusing. But guys, if you think Financial is tough, wait until you do Costing. Good Luck0 -
