I am now at technician level I work at home and have a part time job. I also have 3 children to care for. I sat the PCR last week but felt I had done badly. ( Unfortunatly one of my children was ill the night before so I had little sleep.... just my luck ).
I am just reveiwing my work load and wondering if anyone else has split the units up and done it over say 18 months 2 years does this work ok?. I was thinking if I had to resit the PCR plus all the other exams I don't think I can give my best to this many units at the same time. Just wondering how other part time students cope and the options they considered I feel a bit overwhellmed with all the work at the moment.
struggling with workload

    Hi,

I'm doing Technician as distance learning with FTC and I have spread this over 18 months, I have just done both tax units, but know I have failed at least one of them, I am doing both costing units in June and DFS next December, with at least one resit in June there is a lot of work to do along with the project to complete, so to be quite honest I don't know how people fit it all in in one year, as like you I have young children and work full time as well, so not a lot of study time left at the end of the day, so most weekends are taken up with study, but I'm sure when I've finished it all, I'll be glad I did. If nothing else I will have proved to myself at the age of 40 I can still use the little grey cells!!!

Good luck Sarahx.

    struggling with workload

    hiya

I too work part time, and have a young family and I studied at college one day a week (1 until 9pm) Yes it is a hell of a lot of work, and I did the whole blood sweat and tears thing.

The way we worked at college is that we did the PEV exam in December and the other three in June - I complained bitterly from January that we should have sat PTC (which was our "optional" subject) at the December sitting and just had the two exams in June.

I wont even try and cover it over and say that its be ok, because I found it very hard at times to fit in revision, and the project and the homework between clening the house, making supper and being a wife and mother too. But I can say is that I am glad I did it within the year as I can imagine its a real bind having to span it out over two. Your life will be put on hold from about April to June so dont plan any major events in this time.

Really what you'll have to ask yourself is how soon do you want it all to be over with? Only you know your own capacity for working, home, life and study - if you want it that bad, then you'll make it happen.

Hope this helps
Mandy
