looking for work experience

I live in the Brighton area and am currently studying at intermediate level. I need to gain some work experience so that an agency will register me (I have no accounting experience) so that I will be able to progress (hopefully) to the technician level in September.<BR>If any members know of any organisations locally that would be willing to consider offering me some unpaid work experience, perhaps 1 or 2 days a week over several months, then I should very much appreciate hearing from them. <BR>

    Have the agencies actually said they wont register you? I know a couple of people who were in your position but did register with agencies and got jobs. I know sometimes Agencies can be a bit of a pain (especially if you lack the work experience) but there are always employers out there who need staff. As you are studying AAT Intermediate, you are more marketable than someone who isn't. Personally, I would recommend Hays Accountancy as they cater for all types of people and I am sure they have companies on their books who would be interested in interviewing you. I am not sure what type of Accountancy jobs you would be interested in but I work in practice and firms are always interested in people studying the AAT and would even offer study support. Perhaps it may be worth contacting a few firms around your area or contacting an Agency to see whats available

    Thanks for your reply, Peugeot. <BR>The agencies are refusing to register me unless I get at least one month's work experience (or part-time equivalent.) I've written to about 10 small accountancy firms within the last few weeks in addition to the ten or so "real" job applications I've put in. <BR>However, I'm yet to get a sniff at an interview.<BR>Anyway, enough whinging for now.
