if you make a only a few mistakes then your college should ask you addional questions to cover the errors.

I made a mess of Unit 2's with the payroll questions as I do payroll and did it more advance than i needed to and therefore didnt post things in the right place. 1 phone call with some questions how to do it etc and it passed.

The time to worry is When you have the results not before!!

Amanda

    Hi Sharon,

I made about three mistakes (taking settlement disc on VAT for credit notes) and also posting the discount in the ledger, they just asked me to redo the questions I got wrong under the test conditions again.

Hopes this helps you.

Regards

Nick

Skills Tests how much to pass?

Oh you lucky people! I must be studying in cuckoo land or something! I made a couple of mistakes on my Skills Tests, my tutor confirmed it by putting task 2 ok, task 3 ok etc. When I asked about Supplementary questions, I was told Skills Tests are marked either "Unsatisfactiory" or "Satisfactory", Supplemantary questions don't apply.
That was the end of that and I have not been given a pass on those Units. One of them was Unit 3, I have passed the exam but I guess it was a waste of time because I am being told because I failed Unit 3 skills test, that is the end of it...............

If you did fail on Unit 3 and say for arguments sake you made a complete and utter mess, im almost 90% sure you can re-take the Skills test again.

Which college do you study with? Are you at college or home study?

It seems alittle harse if you only got a few bits wrong on the skills test. My views on Skills test are suppose to be a Simulation of the real life work you could be doing. So if it was in a real office, you would have a supervisor to ask questions and you wouldnt be set a time limit or would be able to go over the time slightly and if you made mistakes you would be asked to correct them.

Amanda

Skills Tests how much to pass?

    Hi Amanda,

I did do the Skills tests twice. I looked at the feedback from my tutor and it was 1 or 2 questions I got wrong. He keeps saying do a new simulation all the time, it appears to me he wants a 100% pass mark. He doesn't seem to realise I can only do two. I am not a stupid person but I am really starting to think I must be. I am studying at home which I really think now was a mistake. I'm obviously not getting the service that college students are getting. I really don't know what to do now and reading discussion forums on this website about how other people are getting on and doing is making me confused and I'm seriously thinking of ditching it.
Skills Tests how much to pass?

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place...... hahaha, can't really ditch it because my employer is paying for it and I would have to pay them back if I did.....
I study with the NEC and am in constant touch with my coordinator as my tutor told me to get another one when I asked him about my skills tests. I really want to do this, it has taken me 7 years to get sponsorship from my employer and I don't really want to give up now. Thanks for your encouragement, I felt a bit sorry for myself hahaha, I know I'm not thick, my job proves that..........

I agree with Amanda, stick in there.

Who are you studying with? I'm with FTC Distance Learning and the tutors have been pretty good with me to date.

With regards to skills tests I was led to believe that you only need to do them if you can't supply actual work based evidence for the required tasks, if you can supply work based evidence then you don't need to do them.

I think your tutor does sound a bit harsh, I was told if I fail a skills test badly I will be given 4 weeks revision time and then have to re-sit it again. When I did my unit 1 skills test the part I failed was sent back and I needed to correct it, there was also a tutor assessment record there and it said not yet competent the above is required to become competent, so all I needed to do was correct my errors.

Any problems your having or anything your struggling with post it here or on the MSN board and we will try to help. Personally I think I would be having a quite word with my tutor or someone else within the company to try and get something sorted out.

Regards

Nick

Skills Tests how much to pass?

    Thanks Nick,

I didn't get that, my tutor sent it back saying not yet competent and put "new simulation" required but in the booklet, listed the tasks that were ok. I can't use work based evidence as I don't work with any of the criteria needed.
I appreciate what you are saying and feel very much a part of a wide virtual group with this website, I certainly will be asking for help if I get another chance.
Many thanks

Mandy
