i have been studying all weekend and i cant make sense of task 6. How do you get the answer for apportion maintenance total and apportion stores total ? i am really worried about this skills test<BR>

    The maintenance department is re apportioned, so is effectively zero, it is re apportioned to the other 4 departments according to the number of maintained hours. ie 7 for manufacturing, 4 for painting/finishing, 3 for packing and 1 for stores. (21, 12, 6 and 3 respectively)<BR>The Stored (74) is then reapportioned to the other 3 departments according to the number of materials requisitions, 18, 10 and 9 respectively.<BR><BR>Not sure if this is wat u wanted to know.<BR><BR>Feel free to post again if i have not answered what u r asking for.<BR><BR>Remember when doing the allocating and apportioning u only do the indirect items not the direct!!

    Hi Cath<BR>To apportion maintenance you must find a basis to apportion the costs to the other cost centres. The obvoius one would be number of maintenance hours used by the other centres. Total the hours used by the others which equals 15 and divide the total department overheads for maintenance by that. 45/15 = 3 <BR>For every hour used by the other centres times it by three to apportion the overhead thus getting rid of the maintenance to the other centres.<BR>The stores are the same but using material requisitions.<BR>I hope this helps in some way<BR>Best wishes<BR>Lorraine
