I hope to start studying this unit in September and take the exam in December 2005. However, I haven't quite finished the Intermediate stage yet - I still have to study Unit 7 Report & Returns and take a skills test in January 2006. Bearing in mind that I've often found it a struggle finding the time to fit in homework/assignments for Units 5 & 6 earlier this year, would I be better off waiting until January 2006 before staring on any of the Technician Units - I could start Units 8 & 9 in January 2006 and leave Unit 11 etc until September 2006.

I'm just worried that I'm going to bite off more than I can chew. I've heard that Unit 11 is really intensive due to the short time scale involved. Any comments or advice would be greatfully appreciated. As things stand at the moment, I'm paying for all my college and exam fees myself so I can't afford to make any expensive mistakes!

Unit 11 DFS
Heya

I'm in a similar position - i was supposed to take DFS this June but am not going to be able to fit in the time for studying with everything else: I've deferred DFS to June '06 and am taking PEV/PCR in December at the moment, focusing on the Cash Management and Auditing units (and MAS Project) first. I still need to take a Skills Test for Intermediate and since it is the Unit 5 one I thought it was best not to attempt DFS until I had managed to pass it!!

Claire
0 -

My opinion is that you should finish intermediate competely before embarking on technician. Its very intensive and will require all your efforts, you dont need to be bogged down in portfolio work etc from intermediate, you will need a clear head.0 -
Unit 11 DFS
I finished the intermediate last summer and embarked on the technician level straight away. It is whole new ball game. It is alot harder and requires you to be focused on what you are doing. So I would advise you to wait until you have finished all your intermediate and give yourself a break before starting technician.0 -

Thanks to all of you for your advice. As I'm in no great hurry to complete the AAT qualification, I will wait until I've finished the Intermediate stage before embarking on any of the Technician units. Hopefully, I will be able to make a start on Units 8 & 9 early next year.

Thanks again for helping me reach a decision.0
