I am really struggling with the Intermediate course at the moment, and really starting to despair!! I have just done my last skills test which was on Unit 6, and my mind went blank!! Since starting the course at the end of Sept last year, our tutor seems to be flying us through the course and with the Exam only a few weeks away, I am starting to panic.
What I would like to know is, if you can help me, does the course have to be done this quickly, or can we take it slower? Also, do we have to do the Technician course this quick, or can we take it at a more casual speed!?! If it has to be done this fast I really don't think I will be able to cope!!

Thanks for your help!

Hi

If you are doing the course in class I know the tutors like you to finish within the year, but with Home study you finish when you feel ready. As long as you are continuously producing work to a course centre.

I started in October/November and have found parts quite difficult to grasp but you do get there in the end.

Is there anything in particular you are finding difficult?0 -

Hi Tasha

I myself have taken intermediate over two years, primarily as I failed the centrals for both subjects last year!

The intention was to complete intermediate in one year however the failure changed that. I can now however say that I have a much better understanding of both subjects and have already decided that if and when I pass the centrals this year, that I shall take the Technician level over two years too.

I study at college and they will allow us to take as long as we require to complete the course, thankfully!

I now firmly believe that whilst it may take a bit longer to course completion, it is far better to take your time and gain a thorough understanding of the subjects than rush through it and hope you provide the correct answers in the centrals to pass without really understanding what you have written and why! This of course is purely a personal opinion.

Of course I would have loved at this point now to be revising for technician having completed intermediate successfully, as opposed to revising for intermediate with the prospect of another two years study - however patience is a virtue - one that I hope will benefit me in the very long term! I can't wait to "get my life back" on one hand but then the sensible head in me says keep going because when you have successfully completed the course, the world will offer a few more oysters that could change my life anyhow!

I hope I have helped in some way.

Littledoe0 -

I'm also doing Intermediate over 2 years. I've got my ECR & FRA exams in June and don't start studying Unit 7 Reports & Returns until September.

I have found the course quite difficult and thought about giving up on several occasions. However, I do agree with Littledoe that it's far better to take longer completing the course and really understand what you've learned than rush through it and hope you manage to blag it on exam day.

Good luck tasha73 - I find Unit 6 difficult too. I can only suggest that you work through as many past exam papers that you can get your hands on to get a feel for what to expect.0 -

The beauty of AAT is in its flexibility. The simulations clearly say that you should attempt them when u feel you are ready for it. for intermediate stage u shuld first concentrate on unit 5 and 6.
we started our course in the begining of March and have completed unit 5 and 6.
You started in September. i guess that shuld have been enuf time to complete all the units extrememly well.
Good luck for the exams0 -

I have done Units 5 and 7 and passed the FRA exam. Our tutor made us do Unit 7 before we started unit 6, so that it was fresh in our heads for the exam on the 13th. Pretty much struggling to remember all the equations, there are so many!!

How do you get into home study? I think as a single mother of 2 that may be a little easier, especially if you can take your time! You wouldn't want to visit my house a few days before the exam, I'm sure my sons would like to move out then!!!

Thanks for your help.0
