Anyone please help, i know the best help is to just read the whole book but i was just wondering whether anybody has any ''hints'' to what they expect to come up in both of these exams? If SANDY HOOD reads this message then please advise me to what you believe will come up because i know your a legend on these forums! I know these are only hints and shouldnt be percieved as whats exactly going to come up in the exam but i would still appreciate any opinions as it would greatly help with revision, if you can please use a format e.g. DFS Part 1 Consolidated B/S, Part 2 Ltd Company P&L etc. Thanks People!!!

PEV & DFS - What is expected to be in the exams?
The only thing that'll help you more than a crystal ball or a tabloid horoscope is to go back through as many past papers as possible.

I've spent the last couple of days looking through DFS papers from 2000 to Dec 2004, and the patterns are fairly clear. Now and again they throw in a googly, like in Dec 2001 they asked for a "Note on Historic Cost Profits as required by FRS3", which no-one had revised, and also they gave you the Cash Flow Statement and simply asked for your analysis rather than asking you to prepare one. In Dec 2003 there was an acquisition and a discontinued operation.

I reckon if you're comfortable with:

* a consolidate BS and P&L (either could be there)

* cash flow statement (including the reconciliation)

* producing the P&L and BS from a TB or an ETB

* basic ratio analysis

* a dozen or so of the more likely FRS and SSAPs

then you're going to pass. Probably. Unless they throw in something odd with a disproportionate chunk of the marks.

My opinion, for what it's worth!0 -
