God Morning all,

Right I have got my final exam DFS tomorrow but I am begining to fell like I am falling apart at the seams! I am intending to do the practice exams from the Osbourn books and go over the past exam papers again. Does anyone have any sugestions for a more productive use of my day or does that sound ok?

My brain really does seem to have given up the ghost!

Me too! My confidence has had a bit of a knock after yesterday but I want to do as well as I can in DFS. I'm praying that it is going to be a normal paper and not anything different like they did in the PEV!!!

Good luck everyone
Jones
0 -
Wasn't there a new chief examiner for PEV? Hence why there were a few 'different types of questions' (from what I can gather on the threads). I'm pretty sure there isnt a new chief examiner for DFS, so hopefully the format will tend to be the same as past papers..(!)

0 -

Well one thing that I have learnt from yeterdays paper is not to log on here after the DFS paper and just head straight to the pub!

I left the PEV exam thinking that although the paper was very different and not at all clear in section 2.2 I had answered all of the questions to the best of my ability and I thought I did ok. That was until I saw that the world and his wife had a totally different answer to the last question than me, I proceeded to panic, stress out and go to sleep. Then at about 9pm last night there was one lonly thread that had two lads with the same answer as me, thank heven I'm not insane in thinking that my answer made sence!

So after exams don't discuss them, it doesn't help, just puts you off of your further study/partying!!!0 -

I agree, I am revising past papers and the format for the P&L, BSh, Cashflow.
Mind you, I can only applaud the person who can not only remember the SSAP/FRS but also the meaning of them.
Dont AAT think we have enough to remember!!
I am hoping the marks for the SSAP/FRS are quite low as I will probs not remember any?
If anyone has a way of remembering them, pleeze let me know...

The FT tips did say that potentially there will be a Consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet for a Ltd company, Cashflow statement, profitability ratios and FRS3, possibly a question on Fixed Assets, Post Bal Sheet events.
These are the same tips that mention PEV would have backward variances, ABC and how computer pacakages aid ABC - AND that was all in there!
Probs best to go over everything anyway, just incase.
I will be so glad when I am in the pub Thursday afternoon knowing this is all over!
Good luck everyone.
Elaine

0 -
For me personally, I've learnt its best not to discuss the exams afterwards. I'm not going to post anything after DFS, just look forward to the results!

I remember PEV in December. Revised hard, but actually LEFT OUT questions, as had a memory block, so wasn't expecting to pass. Looking back, I should have wrote something. So started preparing for the re-sit only to learn I passed. So no matter how badly I do on DFS, i'll still be confident in the back of my mind!0 -
I think with the SSAP's/FRS's - you only get one mark (one mark out of possibly over 200 on offer for the paper!) for actually naming the SSAP/FRS. The real marks are awarded for actually knowing the standard, so I havent wasted my time revising a combined total of at least 20 - 30 definitions to achieve.... maybe 3 marks. Knowing what they mean is far more important in the context of passing the exam. Saying that.... I guess I should learn a few more though!0 -

That sounds very possitive about your PEV in December, I have answered all the questions in the best way that I could see so at the end of the day I really couldn't have done any better. However I really have not put enough time in to DFS in the last week, I fell in to the trap of finding my self haveing spent a week on DFS and forgetting PEV so having to spend all of the week before on that. I haven't looked at a DFS exam since at least last Tuesday!!

Supose I had better get on and stop distracting myself!!!0 -

Reading your messages its exactly how I feel, I left the exam room feeling confident that I had answered all of the questions, gave goods reasons for my answers, but then my confidence was lost when talking to other students about their answers they had different to me!!! I dont want to discuss tomorrows exam with anyone! My plan for today is revising Statment of Principles, ratios, consolidated balance sheet, cashflows and FRS 1, 2, 3, 10 & 18 and SSAP 17 and 19, just a hunch but weve done more work on these!!

Good Luck to all of you out there!!

I've still got PTC to do on Friday!!0 -

If it comforts anyone I took DFS in December and didn't complete the cash flow statement (my mind went very blank!!)
i told work i was 90% sure I'd failed and would be re-sitting in June as I couldn't possibly pass missing a question out

by some miracle i passed

My tips for DFS is to know p&ls balance sheets and cash flow statements inside out - i didn't and i wished I had

good luck everyone

can't wait for thursday afternoon - there's a place by the bar with my name on it!!0 -

u have got the right attitude. It is not healthy to discuss questions after an exam, especially if you have more to do.

Otsua0 -
