Hi guys, sounds like rather a lot of you are thoroughly piss*d off after today's exam.

First of all, try not to dwell on it too much as you will just get even more depressed - I know it's easy coming from someone who was not in the exam today but you need to focus on the next ones you are all sitting or if this was your last one just get drunk and celebrate. I understand how annoyed you may seem about certain things being in the exam which you didn't expect. When I was studying, there used to be exam feedback forms put on certain candidate's desks which enquired about the exam hall, surroundings, noise levels, invigilators and more appropriately the actual exam itself. Do they have these at your AAT exams? If not, certainly some of your tutors will give feedback to AAT concerning the exam content and whether in their opinion, they consider it to be a fair paper or not and I am sure the opinion gets taken into account before the marking process starts. This certainly is the case when I studied ACCA. If the AAT do not have feedback forms, maybe it would be an idea for some of you to get together and suggest the possibility to the AAT.

I read some posts asking for the AAT to get involved in the disagreement concerning the PEV paper, but I'm not sure if the AAT will get involved in student's disagreements.

PEV Exam Opinions
Hi again,

Sorry forgot to mention. I imagine there's only a fraction of students studying the AAT that actually view these forums. There seem to be a large number of students who have had a problem today, so can you imagine how many others (who don't post via the forum) will have had the same problems (don't forget the AAT is a global qualification so there's the students abroad as well that will have encountered this horror paper). There is no way you lot have not put enough work in - but at the end of the day can anybody ever remember a time sitting an exam and feeling totally confident. I did a total of 35 exams through my student days and I reckon all of them at one stage I thought I'd failed. Don't be too despondent you may be in for a pleasant surprise on the 17th August.

Get this week over and get drunk!! You deserve it.

0 -

Thanks!

I have read your comments & feel a lot more posative about Thursday PCR exam now. If the whole planet had problems-not just the 99% of students who have posted items here, then the AAT must realise this.

I hope they don't do this to us again non Thursday-Please GOD!

Would like opinions from other students on:

ABC-More or less profir from swapping over
Variances-did you do anything with the open/close stock?
Was the matierial price variance for both products or 1-it didn't say but never said how much model H used either.
Report-should we subcontract the Model H to Chime?

Lol0 -

Lol

Just a bit of support on your questions for the 'mad' PEV paper.

ABC - I had more profit
Variances - I think this may have been a red herring and I did not use the open/clo stock, however did you note we had the whole paper based on one company, unlike past papers using two differnt ones, I think the information given could have been used throughout the whole paper.
MP Variance - The questions threw me a little as all the info was given on Model F & not for Model H, I only did the price var for Model F, Also my capacity & efficiency var didnt total to the Volume and could I hell work out why.
Last report on subcontracting, I calculated a sizable profit so agreed with the subcontracting out to Chime.

I know I am only one of many sitting yesterdays exam, felt pretty ok when I finished but after talking to other students, may have made a few silly mistakes but hoping that wont penalise my scoring, Its my first time sitting Level 4 and hope I get a pass.
Revising DFS & PCR today and hoping AAT are kinder to us and make it a little easier.
Good luck to all students this week, I think we all need it.
Elaine - Durham
0 -
PEV Exam Opinions
Hi Elaine

I too had more profit from ABC

I got all the variances ok-apart from the price which I tried to work out a total at standard cost & a total what it did cost. I even managed the backward ones-even thought I never saw them before!!!

I thought it showed more profit to keep manufacture in house & not subcontract-I sort of ran out of time as only had 30 mins left when starting to answer this question so did not have time to really work through. So I have no idea if this was right or not. I based sales on £220/unit & worked out the variable cost per unit on actual-not standard as that is what they asked for. I bet I got it wrong though!!!
Oh I also reckoned they could save the £12000 by not holdingg stock & going to just in time manufacture without subcontracting-I think this ios what made the difference.

I had a problem with time-I just had time to read through at the end-most unlike any exam before where I had heaps of time left-and passed first time!!

Well, if we all messed up at least they will HAVE to lower the passmark.

It is the last thing you need when you are nervous enough already. I nearly had a heart attack yesterday..was shaking at my desk & was sick!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope the examiner reads that bit-going for the sympathy vote now!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol

0
