I did the same as you guys. Btw, did you flexthe budget on 380,000 units or 420,000?

I found the layout very confusing.... I did however, ask my centre if i could keep my question paper, and surprise surprise, you are allowed to take them home!! Most centres keep quiet on the idea of this tho.0 -

I did the flexed budget on 380,000 units because that is what was actually sold. The 420,000 was just what the customer wanted!

I don't think you needed to out in contribution because it wasn't a marginal costing question.

I do think I went wrong on the fixed overheads though. I added the overtime premium into it. Apportioned the overtime between A and B.0 -

Thx for quick reply. I did work out the flexed budget on 420,000 at first... then crossed it all out and worked it out using 380,000 0 -

You should do the flex budget according to the actual results which is 380000.

and to calculate the variable and fixed cost for the electricity you have to calculate the variable cost per unit first using the hi-low method0 -

i copied the same format, if they wanted us to use marginal costing they would have stated that0 -

I shouldn't look on here, i just nearly had a heart attack coz someone else said the budget should be flex on 420. i did 380. please can you confirm it was the 380 as i thought actual sales volume should be used????0 -

Oh thank god for that

Didnt have a clue so just worked it out through percentages and the fact that the variable cost had to be the same for both budgets.

I was just lucky there i think

Thanks for that Sera

Good Luck xxx0 -
