Hi, I took the PCR today.
Re - Flexed budget
I originally used the actual figures for sales of 380,000 then for some reason went and changed them all to accomadate sales of 420,000. Please can someone confirm that this is INCORRECT (420K).
wHAT AN IDIOT.............................................

PLEASE PUT ME OUT MY MYSERY
I used 380,000 but then i thought i was wrong and was going to change it but didn't in the end.

Can anyone tell me too which is the right one to use?

If i got that wrong i think i might fail cos i stupidily made silly mistakes like using 5 days instead of 7!!!!!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh0 -
PLEASE PUT ME OUT MY MYSERY
as far as i think it should be 380000 coz thats what the actual sales volume is!!0 -

Sorry I don't know the right answer, but I used the 380000. The 420000 was what the customer expected to received but we failed to produce, possible suggesting that the pay related bunus thingy was not reached. Not sure if this is correct though. It's just my version.0 -

I used 380,000 as the actual results, but for some reason I put 420,000 as the flexed budget!!!

I failed 0 -

I did with 420 too, but the more i think of it, the more it didnt make sense. If it is for payrelate bit, why they throw in at the note to the actual production? I managed to write a note to the accessor saying my actual was based on 420 and assumming (for some reason) we prepared for 420 but only come up with 380.Guess its still wrong though0 -

I used the 380 figure. I did keep looking at the 420 figure and couldnt decide what to do as it was a bit unclear, so left it. My friend changed hers at the last minute to the 420 figure.
Who knows. I added the labour overtime to the fixed overheads but think that was wrong too.
Still if I pass any of them, it will be this one! At least I could answer the questions!0 -

Sorry but......It was the 380,000 figure that should have been used.

Even if production was different, say 420,000, then you still use the 380,000 figure because that was the amount of units sold. The whole idea of a flex budget is to compare how much selling 380,000 units should have cost to how much it did cost. To me the expected actual output of 420,000 was a total red herring. The calculations are based upon Budgeted verses Actual, not Expected Actual.

Lot's of bananna skins in section 2, the mention of fixed cost and variable cost changing in the actual electricity figure, so what ? Just handy for the explination in the memo afterwards.

Hope everyone got the HiLo calculation for the Budgeted electricity figure.

0 -

I DID EXACTLEY THE SAME, IN A WAY THAT WAS THERE TO CATCH US OUT, THINK OF IT THIS WAY. IF YOU MANAGED TO DO OK ON THE OTHER BITS OF SECTIN 2 YOU SHOULD BE OK. OR THATS WAHT IM THINKING BECAUSE I STARTED TO DO THE BUDGET ON 380000 AND THEN CROSSED MY ANSWERS OUT HALF WAY THROUGH AND CHANGED TO 420000. HOW STUPID OF ME.

HOPEFULLLY THE ASSESSOR WILL MAKE NOTE OF THIS AND THROW IN A FEW GENEROUS MARKS FOR EFFORT0 -
PLEASE PUT ME OUT MY MYSERY
I did exactly the same...scribbled the 420,000 out tho and re-wrote the whole thing using the 380,000.

Phewwwwwww... although i messed the stepped cost up.

Will will be docked marks for not showing workings?? There was no indication on the questions and i pretty much guessed correctly the FC of Elec.0 -

Should of used #380,0000 -
PLEASE PUT ME OUT MY MYSERY
I did ponder for a while and nearly used 420,000 but at the 11th hour, I went with my head and not my heart, as the 420,000 said it was what the Customer required, not what was actually produced.0 -

I dont know why a lot of people confused to which number they should choose.

I did not face the problem because I know that the flexible budget should be make to the level of actual results to compare like with like and not with the demand, because you can not always meet the demand.0
