Is there anyway that we can make a complaint about the PEV exam on Monday.

I don't want to complain about the content because AAT are just going to say that we should have learnt it. However I would like to complain about the time scale. I really and truly felt that the exam was way too long. Section 1 took up so much time that I didn't have time to concentrate fully on Section 2.

If anybody know how I can formally go about this then please let me know. If we don't tell them how will they know our concerns.
I'm hoping that if enough people tell AAT about the time the exam took to complete they may consider this went they mark the papers.

I worked really hard for that exam and my section 1 was not perfect but enough to pass. To fail on Section 2.2 just because I ran out of time and couldn't complete the exam is soul destroying.

Last year the AAT dropped 4 marks from the FRA exam because they felt that that exam paper was too long. If we don't air our veiws formally how are they going to know that we are serious.

If enough people formally complain then I'm sure they have to take note of it.0 -

I agree with you I worked hard too and I did section one completely right and 2.1 also.

but 2.2 was really strange for me as I was looking for a clue to start as I saw that there is no time to analyse the question so I wrote rubbish sentences "in fact two paragraphs" and I was going to write the third one to get some marks put have been told to stop writing.

If you know how and to whom to complaint just inform me and I'm with you.0 -

I would like to join you in complaining as well. I think that exam wasn't fair. How do they expect us to answer something that we have never seen before because it wasn't covered in our books?0 -

I too would like to complain mainly because I studied really hard for this exam as it was my third sitting and I really wanted to pass. I even went on a BBP course which cost me an extra £250 as well as paying out my college fees
If I fail this time I feel like giving up altogether0 -

Well I sat PEV in December 2004 and it was very similar comments like not enough time, exam different from past papers etc - we all complained and it got us no where.

They clearly didn't listen to all the complaints from Dec 04 because the same complaints have come out again - so I wouldn't waste your time!0 -

I'm with complaining, I also think that I was fine on part 1, it just took me longer because it was different and included stuff I had not seen before but I worked out. I just wrote two rubbish paragraphs on part 2 because I did not have time to analise it, and to be honest I would of liked the time to do it properly.0 -

I started this thread earlier on and since that time I have spokent to the course head in college. He says that he has to put comments to AAT by Tuesday of how the students felt the exam went. He has told us to forward an email to him and he will include them in the one he sends of to AAT.

AAT might not listen to us but they may listent to them.

Can't harm to try. Contact your colleges to see if they have been given the same info. Keep me updated.
0 -

It is certainly worth a try if you feel strongly enough about it. Don't build your hopes up though as I recall last year's ECR stirred up a lot more complaints on the site than this year's PEV and it seemed to go on forever. Personally found the ECR okay but watched with interest. The FRA also seemd to cause outrage because of the amount of work involved. Both papers were considered and ECR was found to be fair and the pass percentage for FRA was only dropped slightly even though it was acknowledged to be too lengthy.

0
