Has anyone completed the Technician by home study, and if so, can you tell me how you found it for this level.

I already have good feedback from people who have done the intermediate, but was wondering about the technician level.

I would appreciate any views, comments or recommendations.
Thanks.

I too am thinking of taking Technician level with Premier Training afetr talking to them on the phone earlier. They sound very helpful and encouraging. I just hope I've got the enthusiasm to do it on my own!
I am in the process of doing the Technician level by home study. PTC and the MAS project were OK to do. I have just done the DFS which was a disaster. It is a very big step from intermediate to technician and have found that I can only do one unit per sitting due to work and family. It can be done, but it is alot more time consuming and more intense than the intermediate. I think in the end it will be worth it, but doesn't feel like it at the moment.

Best of luck

If you are motivated enough then I would say you will be fine with both taxes - I attended college but teachers was not very good so we ended up teaching our selves! You mentioned the time issue well in the lessons I might as well have stayed at home and had couple of hours struggling through on my own rather than an half an hours drive to college for a 2hour lesson that never started on time and not much was taught. This is turning into a rant - sorry.

The other papers I sat were the 3compulsary ones PER, PCR & DFS - if you feel the home study package provides support and you have someone to ask if you are stuck if would say yes home study all the way.

One thing I will warm you though is the leap from intermediate to technician is far higher than from foundation to intermediate. I sat 5 exams last week and its nearly killed me. I would suggest if you are going to do tax to get both papers taken in the December sitting as if you should be unfortunate you can re-sit in the June and the paper will still be on the same set of tax tables.

I am going to start ACCA next and I cant decided if to do home study - how do you find them as a package, and if your stuck how to do get around it?

Hope I am of some use, but please bear in mind I have been surviving on 5 hours sleep a night all week with cramming for my exams n not I wake up early on the day I can sleep in and catch up.

Good luck in your studies

Susan
