Hello all<BR><BR>I am finally starting my unit 10 project. I have kind of left it till the last minute so I'm starting to panic now. I work for an accountancy firm so I'm finding it difficult to find an area to look at. Most of the examples I have seen are more industry based therefore they have looked at the sales department or purchase department whilst we don't have these at our firm. I just wondered what other people who work in practice have look at. <BR><BR>Thank you

    I had a similar sort of problem - i work for myself - after much discussion with my tutor, i based it on of my clients, which has not been easy - talking about "the payroll department" - me! You can always do the AAT simulation project - i dont know anything about it though. Can your tutor advise?<BR><BR>Also what about the sales/purchase/payroll department of your company - they are just like anyone else - they buy things, sell things and (presumably) pay you all at the end of the month????

    I work in practice as well and I did mine on setting up a client's bookkeeping system. It covered the managing people aspect quite well as you had to liaise with the client and get them to do what you needed as well!! I talked about the system that they had, the improvements needed and the system that I put in. It covered fraud quite well too.<BR><BR>Is there anything like that available?<BR><BR>Annette

    Hi there,<BR><BR>I am working in a solicitor firm as a book-keeper,i am planing to do my Unit 10 project .After read through AAT student record about this unit, i decide my project mainly based on PREVENTION OF FRAUD AND MONEY LAUNDRYING ,but i think if i really do so ,is it rang too wide?is it this topic too big to write?<BR>Most people have certain specific idears about their project ,i feel mine too difficult to write ,any advice or suggestion for me ?thank you in advance<BR>chaoliss

    I work in practise and did the project on the planning program we use. Looked into the possibility of using another program and the features it would need.<BR><BR>Was quite easy to cover most of the criteria with this

    I have completed my project - Money laundering won't be too much of a wide project - I work in treasury and explored some areas which I guess will be similar to those you come across. Best of Luck.

    You are lucky we were given till 31 May to hand our finished project in. It was tough going but at least I have now finished.<BR><BR>I did not have a problem finding a subject the boss suggested a topic, which worked out well but a few at college could not do a work based subject so the tutor arranged for a simulation from the AAT I believe it was at about a hotel or group of hotels. If you are finding it hard speak to your tutor to get you a simulation. <BR><BR>What we all did find useful was a book given to us by college from Osborne books call Managing Accouting System and People, which is for unit 10 you can get the books from Osborne their web site is www.osbornebooks.co.uk.<BR><BR>Hope this is helpful<BR><BR>Best of luck

    AAT have asked people not to send projects out. I found the guidelines under the resources section really useful. Also try www.accountancystudents.co.uk where there are some guidelines written by an assessor.
